Sorry if this seemed rushed….I have to go to bed now! πŸ˜€ Hope you enjoyed!

Awards :)

Clara and Megan both nominated me for the Quote of the Day Challenge! Thanks, girls!

Here’s how it works:

Post one quote a day for three days. You don’t have to post three days in a row, just be sure to do it once so the challenge will be passed on.

Nominate three new people each day.Β

Alright, then…here’s my quote:

“Have regular hours for work and play, make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will be delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life become a beautiful success, in spite of poverty.”-Marmee from Little Women (For the record, I LOVE Marmee! She always gives such good advice to the girls. She and Jo are my favorite characters in the story. πŸ˜‰ )

I nominate:

Bookwurm Girl

Also, Koko nominated me for the Liebster Award–thanks so much, Koko!! Her questions are as follows:

If you had a whole afternoon free; no plans AT ALL, what would you spend it doing?

Okay, that’s a really tough question to answer. Hmm. Well, if it was a nice day in spring, summer, or fall, I’d probably spend most of my time outside in the backyard…maybe taking some pictures or listening to music. If it was in the winter, I’d stay cozy inside, watching an episode or two of Little House on the Prairie and drawing or writing.

What is your favourite day of the week?
Friday! πŸ˜€

What is your favourite thing about your blog?
I’m not sure if this means my blog, or just blogging in general. I guess I’ll say interacting with people all over the world. πŸ™‚

What is the reason behind your blog name?
My blog is called Everything Fun Under The Sun because I try to put a positive, fun feel into every blog post, and my name is Sunny. πŸ™‚

What blessings have you received through blogging?
Being able to meet good, God-loving people. πŸ™‚

Marvel or DC?Β πŸ˜‰
Haha, I have no idea…I’m really not a comic book person. (Except for my dad’s super, super old ones and Peanuts comic collections. πŸ˜‰ ) I guess I’ll go with Marvel.

What is your favourite number?
I never really thought about this question…but after thinking about it, I’ve decided my favorite number is 14. πŸ™‚ In the past I’ve also been partial to 5 because of Jump5. πŸ˜‰

What was the last song you listened to?
Ready Or Not by Britt Nicole! πŸ™‚

If blogs were people, what would yours look like?Β πŸ˜€
Mine would have blond hair and bright, shiny green eyes (I’ve always loved green eyes for some reason–they’re so cool!). She would be wearing a sunny yellow T-shirt and denim capri pants. πŸ™‚

Winter, Spring, Summer, or Autumn?
Summer!!! I miss summer so much!! 😦 I am getting sick of staying in my room–I miss being outside! I also really love spring, and autumn is good too.

I nominate…anyone who likes brownies!! πŸ™‚ Hehe!

My BIBPC photos will be up soon, so stay tuned! πŸ™‚

From A Name On A Page, To A Real Character

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about something that I think is very important when writing a story…character descriptions.

I find that I’m more likely to write about a character if I write a detailed description about them first. This could include (but of course isn’t limited to), the way they look, their traits/personality, hobbies or interests that they might have, what annoys them, etc.

Here are a couple of examples of character descriptions I wrote earlier today. They are character sketches of the cousins from my story I started work on this week (who are all based on/inspired by some of the members of the Christian group Avalon). I hope these will help you!!

*Note: These are also the same cousins from my story The Cousins Next Door. πŸ˜‰ *

Cherie-Cherie has long, curly black hair and brown eyes. Out of the four cousins, she is the “shy one” and can also be sensitive. Cherie’s parents died in a car crash when she was nine; this may explain why she is sensitive. Cherie is close with her cousin Janna, but is also extremely close to her cousin Michael, who she lives with and who is also like a brother to her. Cherie is known to become jealous when Michael acts friendly toward other girls. Cherie also loves to travel and dreams of being a world traveler someday.

I put Cherie first because she’s the “main” character in my story. When writing descriptions, I would suggest that you write sketches of the most important characters first, then the supporting characters later.

Janna-Janna has long, straight brown hair and brown eyes. She likes to take charge but also can be agreeable to others’ ideas at times. She enjoys photography and is often annoyed by her cousin Jody’s antics. Janna is also very close to Cherie. She can be outspoken at times as well.

Michael-The oldest of the four cousins. Michael is somewhat laid-back and easygoing. He has a love for writing, especially poems, and has a soft spot for animals. He has blond hair and bright blue eyes. Michael is quite protective of Cherie and has been since she came to live with him and his family after the car crash. He often affectionately refers to his cousin as “Cherie-girl”.

Jody-Jody has dark spiky hair and brown eyes. He is very immature (talking with his mouth full, etc.) and hyper. Like Janna, he is not afraid to speak his mind, especially if he dislikes something.

Here are some things to remember:

-Don’t feel bad if you don’t have much written down about your character(s) yet. It might take quite a while to develop a personality and background for him/her. I’m just beginning to figure out the personalities of these characters, and this is my second time writing about them!

-When writing your descriptions, you do not have to use full sentences if you don’t want to! I just like to because it helps me to get my thoughts in order, but you can use bullet points, dashes, draw pictures, whatever you want!

-Most importantly, HAVE FUN! πŸ˜€

If you have any more writing questions, just ask me in the comments!! Happy Writing!

BBPIC Entry 3

Alrighty, for the third round of Megan’s photo challenge, the topic is Everyday Things….taken from an interesting angle! πŸ˜‰ So here goes:

I took this picture on vacation last summer, while sitting outside at a picnic table near our hotel. Isn’t it cool? πŸ˜‰ I love how you can see the wood scratches on the table. πŸ™‚

And all that green…agghh, can it be summer right now? I miss sitting on our back porch! πŸ˜›

See ya later! ❀

Lovely Awards! ;)

Hey! So I’ve been nominated for quite a few awards lately. I thought I’d combine them all into one post, so…here we go!

First up, Clara nominated me for the Liebster Award! πŸ˜€ Thank you so much, Clara!

Weirdest book you’ve ever read?
Probably either Fourth Grade Rats or Maniac Magee, both by Jerry Spinelli. I unfortunately had to read those books when I was still in public school. Both of them were quite strange…. especially Maniac Magee. I wouldn’t recommend either of them.

Biggest obsession?
CHRISTIAN MUSIC. I live and breathe and eat and sleep Christian music. XDΒ  Okay, not really…but I do really enjoy it. πŸ˜‰

What is the best thing you got for Christmas?
Wow, that’s a tough one! πŸ™‚ But I guess I’ll have to go with the for KING & COUNTRY album Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong., which my sister got me! (For some reason I forgot to put it in the Christmas haul post. :P) It’s an awesome CD, and I love listening to it on both my iPod and my CD player. πŸ˜‰ (A review of the album will be coming soon!)

Do you like gummy bears?
Kind of. Whenever we go out for ice cream and I get gummy bears in my sundae, I always seem to get more gummy bears in the sundae than actual ice cream. XD It’s annoying to keep chewing those chewy little bears. πŸ˜›

First blog you ever read?
I’m not sure, actually, but probably American Girl Fan. (I still think of Jessica as Liz, by the way, anybody with me? πŸ˜‰ )

I nominate…..anyone who likes pie! πŸ™‚

Next, K.A. nominated me for two awards: the Unknown Bloggers Award and the Liebster Award!! Thanks, K.A.!

First up, the Unknown Bloggers Award! Here are the questions:

Why do you like blogging?
Well, I like to talk, firstly. πŸ˜‰ And also because I like to share my opinions with others, and meet other great, Christ-loving people like me. πŸ™‚

Do you have any animals?
Yup, one dog named Gracie!

What do you want people to think when they see your blog?
That I’m a nice, kind, positive gal who loves the Lord. πŸ™‚

When did you get your blog?
March 13, 2015.

What do you feed off to blog?
Other people’s feedback and encouragement. πŸ™‚

I nominate:
Bookwurm Girl
Mallory and Snickers πŸ˜‰
And anyone else who would like to be awarded. πŸ™‚

My questions:
How long have you been blogging for?
What’s your favorite part of the blogging experience?
What’s your favorite book genre?
Favorite subject in school?
Would you rather have 200 followers or 200 comments?

Now, the Liebster Award questions!!

What is the first long word you can think of?

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! πŸ˜€

What is your favorite website (not blog)?

Probably the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. That site is sooo cool.

Country or City?

Have you ever slid down the stairs on a sleeping bag or blanket?

No, but it sounds really fun! I’d like to try it sometime.

Last movie you watched?

I have no idea…. I think it was the Hallmark movie Christmas With Holly (SO good! Watch it!!), which I watched at about 10pm on New Year’s Eve. So yeah, it was a while ago.

What camera you would choose if you could get one?
Probably the Nikon Coolpix L840 or one similar to it. πŸ˜‰

I nominate anyone who’d like this award. πŸ™‚

Maddie also nominated me for the Unknown Bloggers Award! Thank you heaps, Maddie! Her questions are as follows:

What is your favorite blog?
I could never pick a favorite blog! I love all the blogs I read. πŸ™‚

Have you had snow yet?
Yes, we got some last week! It was pretty at first, but now I want it all to go away. XP Luckily it’s melting pretty fast.

What is your favorite dessert?
Ice cream all the way!

What is your favorite toy?
My dolls. πŸ™‚

What is your favorite Book(s)?
I have many favorites, but two favorites of mine right now are Little Women (which I just finished and LOVED!) and Anne of Avonlea (which I also just finished yesterday! I can’t wait to read Anne of the Island!!).

Then, Leah nominated me for the Music Tag! Thanks a bunch, Leah! Here we go:

Write ten songs that come on shuffle (no skipping).
Write your favourite lyric from each song.
Tag some peeps.

Alright, let’s get started… (By the way, I’m using my Spotify account to do this. πŸ˜‰ )

Avalon-The Good Way-“Believe in your heart/Right down to your soul/And speak of true things/And know that you know/Cause this might be the day/So live like it is/Find the good way and walk in it.”

Chris Tomlin-I Will Follow-Who You love, I’ll love/How You serve, I’ll serve/If this life I lose, I will follow You.”

Newsboys-That’s How You Change The World-“Cause it’s the prayer in an empty room/Little things we do when nobody’s around/A hand reaching out to a heart in doubt/It’s the smallest spark that can light the dark/That’s how you change the world.”

Lincoln Brewster-Today Is The Day-“And I won’t worry ’bout tomorrow/I’m trusting in what You say/Today is the day.”

Newsboys/Rebecca St. James-Blessed Be Your Name-“Every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise/When the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say/Blessed be the name of the Lord!”

Big Daddy Weave-Let It Rise-“Let the songs of the Lord rise among us/Let the songs of the Lord rise among us/Let the joy of the King rise among us/Let it rise.”

Britt Nicole-Walk On The Water-“When you take that first step/Into the unknown/Know that He won’t let you go/So what are you waiting for?”

Avalon-I’m Speechless-“When it comes to You, I’m speechless/Nothing holds a candle to the waters of Your love/I’m amazed by Your grace, Your forgiving embrace/And I’m finding words could never be enough.”

Matt Maher-Because He Lives-“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow/Because He lives, every fear is gone/I know He holds my life, my future in his hands.”

Avalon-Take You At Your Word-“Say you, say Your word/Yeah, You say Your word/Yeah, You say it, yeah yeah yeah/Say you, say Your word/Yeah, You say your word/Yeah, you say Your word to me!”

Okay, that was sooo fun! I definitely want to do that again sometime. πŸ˜‰

For this tag, I nominate:

Sarah Margaret

And…anyone else who would like to do this award!

Whew….I’m beat! πŸ˜› I don’t think I’ve ever put so many awards into one post!

Have a good night, all!

BBPIC Entry 2

Hi guys! πŸ™‚ For part 2 ofΒ Megan’sΒ Boring Into Beautiful photo category, the topic is food! Here’s my picture for this category:

The other day, my family went to McDonald’s, and I ordered a McChicken sandwich for the first time! Let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. Besides a breaded chicken patty, the sandwich also had lettuce and mayonnaise on it. And I also had some yummy honey mustard sauce to dip my McChicken in! πŸ˜‰

I’m sorry the picture isn’t the best (I used my tablet camera to take it), but I was gone almost all day yesterdayΒ  (when this was due…..heh heh πŸ˜‰ ) and didn’t have time to find a better photo.

Hopefully my picture made you all hungry…. πŸ˜‰

That’s all for now, folks! Sorry for not posting much lately….but it’s the end of the quarter for me in school and I am currently drowning in tests and schoolwork. I have a post in draft right now that should be up soon. Have a great night!

BBPIC Entry 1

Hi all!Β MeganΒ is holding a “Boring Into Beautiful” photo contest, and I decided to enter! In case you’re wondering, I’m on Team Daffodil.

Anyway, the first category for the contest is Animals. Here is my entry:

I took this picture at the beach a few years ago. My family was sitting in chairs across from the ocean, and this seagull landed right in front of our seats! He was so close to us that it was kind of creepy…but it made for a great photo opportunity! πŸ˜€

Hope you enjoyed! I’ll see you all soon!

My Christmas Wishlist…Part 2

Hey everyone! Remember when I posted my Christmas wishlist? Well, today, we’re going to go back, take a look at it, and see if I got anything I asked for for Christmas! (I will say that you’ll be pleased. πŸ˜‰ )

1. Kelly Club dolls-YES, I got two of them! Reindeer Chelsie (who I really wanted) and Veterinarian Jenny. Jenny was a total surprise, and I wanted to be surprised so I am very happy to have her! Both girls are super adorable and I am having a lot of fun playing around with them.

Here they are!! πŸ™‚ (Sorry for the bad quality picture, I took this with my tablet camera. ;} )

I love Jenny's outfit! Only bad thing is that her coat doesn't come off. 😦

Don't you love Chelsie's little red nose??? So cute!

2. Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Gift of Christmas book-I did receive this! πŸ™‚ The book is really great and is filled with so many fun, Christmas-y stories. Some of the stories are really funny, too—like the one about the woman who received what she thought was a scarf from her sister…only to find out years later that it was actually a table runner. XD (And she got several compliments on this so-called scarf, too!) It’s a really awesome book. πŸ™‚

3. The Waltons Season 3 DVD-I did not get this, but I honestly don’t care. I only put it on my list as kind of a “just-in-case” thing, and it wasn’t even in the top three gifts that I wanted. πŸ˜‰

4. Mary Engelbreit 2016 Calendar-A couple of weeks before Christmas, I changed my mind about asking for this calendar. The reason was because I remembered that a few years ago, I had a Peanuts day-by-day calendar, with a comic strip for each day. I really enjoyed that calendar, so I thought I would ask for this year’s Peanuts calendar instead. I am so glad I did! I’ve really been having fun reading every day’s strip. This weekend’s really made me smile:

5. Surprises-I got many fun surprises, including two super cozy sweatshirts (one of which I am wearing right now!!), a few pairs of fun earrings, a book about the Peanuts TV specials, and more! And of course I got some delicious candy (but I’ve eaten it all up! :P)

In all, I had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope you all did too! I am so blessed and grateful to have received so many great things. πŸ™‚

See you all later!

Dare To Be Different: Chapter 3

It’s here! πŸ™‚ To read the last two chapters, click HERE.

The next day at recess, Chrissy hurried up to Rebecca and grabbed her hand. “Come on, Rebecca!” she exclaimed. “Let’s play some soccer!”
Rebecca smiled at her friend’s enthusiasm. “I don’t know, Chrissy. I mean…I’m not that good at soccer.” In all honesty, Rebecca didn’t really like to play sports, and she didn’t think she was very good at them either. Her friends often played soccer in the park, and Rebecca would join them sometimes just to be nice, but it really wasn’t her thing.
“Sure you are,” said Chrissy. “And it’s fun. Come on, please?”
Rebecca looked at her friend’s pleading face. “Oh, all right. I’ll try it.”
“Great! Let’s go!” Chrissy exclaimed. She pulled Rebecca over to the soccer field, where a game was just beginning to get started.
First, the large group of kids chose captains for the two teams. Both of the kids were ones Rebecca didn’t know at all. Next, the captains chose the people that would be on each team. Rebecca was one of the last people chosen for her team, but she tried not to dwell on that fact. She didn’t think she was chosen almost last because of her weak soccer skills—she assumed it was because she didn’t know the captains, and they didn’t know her.
When the game began, Rebecca tried to look like she knew what she was doing. She got the ball away from her brother Luke (who was on the other team) and ran it down the field…towards the goal! Rebecca kicked the ball as hard as she could and closed her eyes. She heard loud cheering from behind her a few seconds later, so she opened her eyes and spun around. I did it, she thought. I really did it!
Just then, Susannah, who happened to be on Rebecca’s team, walked over to Rebecca with a smirk on her face. “Nice going,” she told Rebecca. “You just scored a point…for the other team!”
“Wait, what?” Rebecca replied, shocked. Then what Susannah had just said began to sink in. “Oh…I….I didn’t realize. I’m sorry.”
Some of the kids nearby started giggling. Rebecca’s feelings were hurt, but she tried not to show it. She just shrugged and said, “Well then, I’ll just keep trying.”
“I’d hope so,” laughed Susannah.

Later that day, Rebecca stood at her locker, packing up to go home. Susannah and her friends stood around chattering nearby. As Rebecca pulled on her plaid jacket with the fur-lined hood, the girls began to giggle and make fun of it.
“You need a leather jacket like mine, Rebecca,” Susannah said, walking over to the girl. She pulled off her sleek black coat and held it up for Rebecca to see.
“I’ll see what I can do,” Rebecca muttered, turning back to grab some textbooks from her locker. Then she zipped up her backpack and hurried out the door to the front of the school, where her brothers were waiting for her.
On the way home from school, Rebecca thought about what had just happened with Susannah. She wondered why Susannah didn’t make fun of the other girls in the class.
Suddenly, it came to her. Susannah didn’t tease the other girls because they were usually dressed in trendy, stylish outfits and had perfect hair. All of the girls were great at sports too. Rebecca was the exact opposite of the other girls in her class—she just wore what was comfortable and didn’t care if it was stylish or not, plus her hair was super curly and occasionally out of control. And she sure wasn’t great at sports. She flashed back on the soccer incident, growing red when she thought about her embarrassing mistake.
Just then, Rebecca got an idea: maybe she could start acting like the other girls in her class. If she did that, maybe Susannah and her group of friends would finally stop picking on her.
Rebecca walked faster, even though her brothers now had to sprint to catch up with her. Since today was Friday, she had the whole weekend to plan the new-and-improved Rebecca.

I’m actually sad that we have to stop here!! 😦 Part 4 will be coming soon! πŸ˜€

It’s Been A Great Year!

Hi, all! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I wanted to get this post up last night, but it was too late. πŸ˜‰ So here it is today for you! Enjoy!
**************************************************************************************************************************It’s hard to believe that in just one hour, it will be 2016. 2015 seemed to fly by for me! The year was fantastic, in my opinion. πŸ˜‰  Here are some of my “blogging highlights” from 2015:

March-I started my blog on March 13. (You can read my first post HERE.) I also posted the first chapter of my story, Talent Battle. (It was, as you can probably guess, the first ever story I posted here. πŸ˜‰ ) Plus…I wrote my first CD review!

April-I got my first award!! πŸ˜€

May-This was a super busy month for me. I created a poll for you guys to take (which is still up on my header if you’d like to take it!), and also created a blog button. The finale of Talent Battle was also posted.

June-I started work on my second story, The Cousins Next Door.Β  I also did my first (and only so far!) Beautiful People linkup (I had a blast answering those questions!).

July-I answered 100 Random Questions. (That was SO fun! It was probably one of my favorite posts that I did this year.)

August-I took the 31-Day Blogging Challenge (I vote we make a sequel next summer! Who’s with me?). I also got a new tablet…and you all got to meet my buddy, Biscuit! πŸ˜‰

September-The first chapter of my next story, Dare To Be Different, was posted.
