The Music Tag…Again ;)

Megan nominated me for the Music Tag! (Thanks, Megan!) I did this award before, a while back, and had so much fun that I was hoping I’d be tagged again! And now I’ve gotten my wish. 🙂

OK, so here we go!

Write ten songs that come on shuffle (no skipping).
Write your favourite lyric from each song.
Tag some peeps.

Sounds easy enough. 😉

TobyMac-Beyond Me-You gave me the stars, put them out of my reach/Called me to waters a little too deep/Oh, I’ve never been so aware of my needs/You keep on making me see/It’s way beyond me

Out of Eden-Soldiers-All they throw at me, I’m not falling for it/They think I’m alone, they got it all wrong!

Avalon-In A Different Light-Don’t be afraid/Of the twists and the turns of the road that we’re on, just believe/There’ll come a day/When our faith turns to sight and we’ll see His face/While we’re here, the heartache’s hard to ignore, so for now we’ll keep our eyes on the Lord!

Rachael Lampa-You Lift Me Up-You lift me up/I’m touching the blue sky/You lift me up/I’m on top of the world/You lift me up/I’m getting closer to Heaven in every little thing I learn/You lift me up

Avalon-All Hail The Power of Jesus’ Name (Live)- O that with yonder sacred throng/We at his feet may fall!! (I had to look the lyrics up, BTW. I couldn’t understand what Cherie was singing. XD)

for KING & COUNTRY-Without Love-When the future becomes the past/You will see that it is never gonna last/I’ve got something to tell you (By the way, Joel and Luke actually performed this song on Rebecca St. James CD aLIVE in Florida. They weren’t actually for KING & COUNTRY yet. 😉 They sound sooo much younger in this song!)

Casting Crowns-Courageous-We were made to be courageous/We were made to lead the way/We could be the generation that finally breaks the chains/We were made to be courageous/We were made to be courageous!!

ZOEgirl-Forevermore-Peace like a river/Joy like a fountain flow/Wherever you go

Building 429-Where I Belong-All I know is I’m not home yet/This is not where I belong/Take this world and give me Jesus/This is not where I belong

Capital Kings-You’ll Never Be Alone-I’m the streetlights that guide you home/I’ll be the GPS when you’ve lost your phone/I’ll be the song that’s rocking in your headphones/I’ll show the signs to let you know/You’ll never be alone

And….I decided to add a bonus song, which is Breakfast by the Newsboys-When the toast has burned and all the milk has turned/And Cap’n Crunch is waving farewell/When the Big One finds you/May this song remind you/That they don’t serve breakfast in hell!

So there you go! If you’d like to do this award (even if you’ve done it before) feel free! ❤

Have a good night. 😉

What I’ve Been Up To Lately #4!

Hey folks! If you’ve been wondering, Hey, what has Sunny been up to lately?, well, wonder no longer! I am back with another life update (hehe, don’t I sound like a newscaster?!)!

Anyway, here we go…

Reading-My sister and I had to read Tom Sawyer for school this quarter, and last week we finally finished it! I didn’t care for it very much, there was pretty much no real plot and it didn’t start getting good until close to the end. So I’m glad to be finished with it….but now I have to write some essay questions about it, so….yay. 😛

Writing-I am SUPER excited right now because I started a new story last night and am really liking how it’s turning out so far. I think it just might be my best story yet, if I do say so myself. 😉 It doesn’t actually have a title yet…(I am really bad at coming up with titles)…but hopefully it will soon! It’s another Avalon/Cousins Next Door story: Cherie is really feeling down because no one is paying any attention to her accomplishments. I’m hoping to post it on here once I get it done! (And no, I haven’t forgotten about posting the next chapter of Dare To Be Different…I just have to find the written copy (in that bottomless pit that is also known as my room 😉 ) and then type up the next chapter. It will be soon, promise!)

Listening To-Recently I have gotten hooked on Phil Joel, who is a Christian singer from New Zealand. He used to be in the Newsboys as the bass player, then went solo, and now has his own band called Zealand Worship. I’m listening to one of his solo albums on Spotify as I type this….I really like his voice and music style! I am especially in love with his song God Is Watching Over You….the words are so simple but it has really helped me when I’m feeling scared or sad or just whatever! XD

Watching-I try to watch The Waltons as much as I can, which is hard because it’s on at kind of a bad time, and it seems like every time I do get to watch it, it’s a boring or war-related one. 😛 But last week I watched a few episodes, and they were so cute! (They were also episodes from the second season, so that explains why. 🙂 ) The episodes are soooo much better when John-Boy is in them. I ❤ John-Boy. 🙂

I also watched an episode of Little House the other day….it was the one where Laura had just gotten engaged to Almanzo and they were trying to figure out where to build their house once they were married. 😉 And also Eliza Jane, Almanzo's sister (who's kind of an "old maid"), fell in love for the first time….but the guy who she liked was sort of uncomfortable around women (but still talked to her), and preferred to joke around and tell funny stories with Almanzo. I felt bad for her. She had never had a "beau" (as she called it 😉 ) before, and she was pretty old….can you imagine? 😉 Anyway, the episode was sooo good, and even though I kind of had a good idea about what was going to happen, I wanted to see the end. But…my family had to go somewhere so I missed the last ten minutes. I was like, "Nooo! I have to see the end of this episode!". LOL!  To make matters worse, it was a two-parter and I knew I was going to be busy at the time it was on the next day. So I have no idea what happened! Grrr! XD

Other Stuff-This weekend has been kinda chilly, but it hasn’t been too bad. Next week it’s supposed to be REALLY warm where I live, which I’m looking forward to! I’m going to be spending so much time outside the next few days (not tomorrow though….it’s going to be frigid…bleh. 😛 )

My mom started using this new laundry detergent…and wow, I just love the smell of it! It’s kind of like a mixture of flowers and men’s cologne. Weird, I know, but it smells so good.

I have discovered a new love for sriracha sauce (it’s like hot sauce). My family went out to breakfast the other day, and there was a bottle of sriracha nearby, so I poured it on my scrambled eggs, and wow…it was so good! I also poured it on my (dry!) Cheerios (in honor of Phil Joel, I heard he likes sriracha and Cheerios, and ever since I’ve been wanting to try it to see if I would like it too) and well…it wasn’t all that bad. 😉 It was pretty good. I don’t know if I would have it again though. 🙂

Alright, so that’s what’s been going on in my life! By the way….if you’ve written a comment on my blog anytime between now and November(!) and noticed it never got published, don’t worry. I just found a whole bunch of unpublished comments in my “WordPress Admin” that I have never seen before and am going to work on approving and replying to them in the coming days. 😉

Ta-ta, lovelies! 😉 (Where did that come from? XD)

From A Name On A Page, To A Real Character

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about something that I think is very important when writing a story…character descriptions.

I find that I’m more likely to write about a character if I write a detailed description about them first. This could include (but of course isn’t limited to), the way they look, their traits/personality, hobbies or interests that they might have, what annoys them, etc.

Here are a couple of examples of character descriptions I wrote earlier today. They are character sketches of the cousins from my story I started work on this week (who are all based on/inspired by some of the members of the Christian group Avalon). I hope these will help you!!

*Note: These are also the same cousins from my story The Cousins Next Door. 😉 *

Cherie-Cherie has long, curly black hair and brown eyes. Out of the four cousins, she is the “shy one” and can also be sensitive. Cherie’s parents died in a car crash when she was nine; this may explain why she is sensitive. Cherie is close with her cousin Janna, but is also extremely close to her cousin Michael, who she lives with and who is also like a brother to her. Cherie is known to become jealous when Michael acts friendly toward other girls. Cherie also loves to travel and dreams of being a world traveler someday.

I put Cherie first because she’s the “main” character in my story. When writing descriptions, I would suggest that you write sketches of the most important characters first, then the supporting characters later.

Janna-Janna has long, straight brown hair and brown eyes. She likes to take charge but also can be agreeable to others’ ideas at times. She enjoys photography and is often annoyed by her cousin Jody’s antics. Janna is also very close to Cherie. She can be outspoken at times as well.

Michael-The oldest of the four cousins. Michael is somewhat laid-back and easygoing. He has a love for writing, especially poems, and has a soft spot for animals. He has blond hair and bright blue eyes. Michael is quite protective of Cherie and has been since she came to live with him and his family after the car crash. He often affectionately refers to his cousin as “Cherie-girl”.

Jody-Jody has dark spiky hair and brown eyes. He is very immature (talking with his mouth full, etc.) and hyper. Like Janna, he is not afraid to speak his mind, especially if he dislikes something.

Here are some things to remember:

-Don’t feel bad if you don’t have much written down about your character(s) yet. It might take quite a while to develop a personality and background for him/her. I’m just beginning to figure out the personalities of these characters, and this is my second time writing about them!

-When writing your descriptions, you do not have to use full sentences if you don’t want to! I just like to because it helps me to get my thoughts in order, but you can use bullet points, dashes, draw pictures, whatever you want!

-Most importantly, HAVE FUN! 😀

If you have any more writing questions, just ask me in the comments!! Happy Writing!

Avalon – Jesus Born On This Day

Well, yes, Jesus is certainly born on this day! 🙂 It’s Christmas, everyone! 😀 Can you imagine what it was like at that moment…the moment that Christ was born? The angels were singing, Mary and Joseph were probably thrilled….and so was the entire world! After all, Jesus is our Savior. 😉

I hope you all have a wonderful day, spending time with your families, opening presents, going to church, and of course…eating! 😀 I know I will. 😉 (Yes….this post, as you can probably tell, is scheduled. 🙂 )

Merry, Merry Christmas to all of you! 😀 I’ll see you all soon! And…HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS! 😀

Avalon – We Are The Reason

This is such a great song that REALLY makes you think about the true meaning of Christmas. 😉
It’s amazing to think that Jesus died for all of us. We didn’t deserve that, but He truly gave us the BEST gift we could ever recieve. 🙂

Oh, and just to let you know: WordPress is being mean and isn’t allowing me to approve/reply to comments. So if you don’t see your comment yet, don’t worry, I’ll try to get it up as soon as I can. 😉

My Art

Hey everyone! In my last post, I wrote about how I’ve been working on my drawing skills lately. Someone suggested that I show you some of the things I’ve been working on lately…. so I’ve decided to do just that! Here we go…

Before I show you all my work, here are the two sketchbooks I use. The first one I use for just random practicing/doodling, and the drawing pad is what I use when I’m working on the final draft of à drawing and things like that.

Sorry about the black spots, they’re to erase my handwriting and such. 😉 This is an illustration based on part of a story I’m working on. I drew this last night. 🙂

A couple of weeks ago, I was trying to draw a dog, but it ended up looking more like a fox. So behold…. A fox!! 😀

I think this is supposed to be Cherie from Avalon….I did this one a while ago. I sometimes like to use real people as “models” for my drawings.

A picture of somebody waving! 🙂 I did this one yesterday.

And finally, my last picture for today!! This is (as you can probably tell) a drawing of some people going bowling. I drew most of this one while I was working at the library over the summer (I had some time to kill 😉 ). Then I decided to make a copy of my drawing, so that I’d have one in black and white, and then one that I would color myself. I’m really proud of this picture. 🙂

Well, I hope you all enjoyed taking a peek at my artwork! Have a great rest of your day! 😀

CD Review: Avalon-Oxygen

Hi everyone! So today I felt like doing a CD review, but I didn’t know what CD to do that review on! I finally decided to do one on Oxygen by Avalon, one of my favorite Christian albums of all time. Even though it was released in 2001, Oxygen has some terrific songs that, in my opinion, still sound modern and fresh today.

Let’s get started on the review, shall we?

1. Wonder Why-A terrific song to start off the album with. Janna and Jody’s voices are both so powerful here!

2. The Best Thing-Another great song….I love the harmonies between Michael and Cherie here! 😀 When I first heard this song, I remember thinking that some of the lyrics sounded kind of silly (“it’s like I’m flying with my feet on the ground”, for example). But the more I listened to it, the more I liked it! It’s definitely one of my favorite tracks on the whole CD.

3. By Heart, By Soul-OK, let me start off by saying that I just love Michael’s voice! Every time I hear it, my heart seriously skips a beat. It’s so smooth-sounding and calming, and just amazing!! So I was really happy to hear that he took the lead in this one. The only thing I don’t like about this song is that Aaron Neville is in it. (He’s a pretty well-known singer who does all kinds of music, including Christmas songs and gospel stuff.) Unlike Michael, I really don’t care for the way his voice sounds…it’s just really quivery and stuff. But on the other hand, I do think it’s cool how they had a “guest voice” on this song!

4. Undeniably You-If I had to pick just one favorite song off of this album, this is probably the song I would choose. I love it so much!! When I first heard it on YouTube, I kept playing it over and over….it was that good. 😉 Cherie does an outstanding job singing this song, and the background vocals are great too.

5. I Don’t Want to Go-Well, it sure wouldn’t be an Avalon album without the famous “Janna ballad”, and this happens to be the ballad she sings in Oxygen. This song is really good, even though it’s on the long side. And man, Janna sure can sing! My favorite part of the song is the last time that Janna sings the chorus, just because her voice sounds SO amazing and powerful there.

6. Never Givin’ Up-I think I’ve only listened to this song once or twice, so I don’t have much to say about it.  But I do really like it!

7. Make It Last Forever-Another one of my very favorite tracks! This song is really upbeat and reminds me a lot of Jump5. 🙂 I love the bridge in this song….whatever instrument they use in it (a violin, maybe?) just sounds so pretty.

8. The Glory-An absolutely terrific song that is also a favorite of mine. The harmonies on this track are just AMAZING!

9. Oxygen-I wasn’t sure how I felt about this song at first, but now after listening to it a few more times, I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! And don’t even get me started on Michael’s voice here…..oh my gosh, it gives me chills. 🙂 And I love the harmonizing done here too.

10. Love Remains-I haven’t heard too much of this song yet, but what I have heard isn’t bad. And I’m really glad Jody sings this track. I feel like Michael has had more “solo time” on this album, which (as much as I love his voice) is a shame because Jody’s a talented singer, too. 🙂

11. Come and Fill My Heart-A great way to close out the album. It does remind me a little of I Don’t Want to Go, but that’s fine. 🙂

Bonus Track-Beyond the Clouds-A “bonus track” in the deluxe version of this album. This song is pretty good, it’s too “pop”-ish for my taste, but there’s something about it that I do like.

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading my Oxygen review! If there’s any CD, book, movie, or anything else (like one of my AG dolls? 😉 )that you’d like me to review, let me know and I’ll do my very best to answer your request. (Hey, that rhymed!) Or if you’d like to write your own review on something, just send it to me at the address on my “email me” page, and I’ll post your review sometime. 🙂

Bye for now!

Throwback Thursday: A Peek At WOW Hits 2004

Hi everyone! Since the track listing for WOW Hits 2016 was released this week (go here to check it out for yourselves), I thought today I would pick one of the WOW CDs from the past, and share my opinions on several of the songs. WOW Hits 2004 seemed like a pretty good fit, so I decided to choose that one for today’s post.

If you don’t know what WOW Hits CDs are, don’t worry! A few years ago I didn’t even know what they were, either. 😉 Each year, a new WOW Hits album is released. Each album contains several Christian songs, usually the most popular Christian tunes from the past year. I received WOW 2014 a few years ago, and I even did a review on it when I was just starting my blog (which you can view here and here).

Now let’s finally get to talking about WOW Hits 2004! I don’t actually own the CD, but I have several of the songs from it on my iPod and have heard a few on YouTube, so a bunch of them I am already familiar with. As with all WOW CDs, there are two discs, so I decided that I would feature my favorite and least favorite songs from each disc in this post.

Disc 1 Favorites:

-Newsboys-He Reigns-This was one of the very first Christian songs I ever heard, in summer 2011. My mom actually discovered it (thanks, Mom!), and downloaded it off of iTunes. When she told me about the song, I wasn’t sure if I would like it, since I was just getting into Christian music at the time and didn’t know very much about it. But after listening to the song several times on my sister’s iPod, I realized that I loved the song, and put it on my iPod right away! Although He Reigns is over ten years old now, it still plays pretty often on K-LOVE and other Christian radio stations. It’s such a positive, wonderful song, and the Newsboys do a terrific job with it. It’s definitely one of my favorite songs by them-and a great way to start off this CD. 😉

-Steven Curtis Chapman-All About Love-I first heard this song in 2012, after going through WOW Hits 2004 samples on Amazon (pretty funny that the first time I heard this song was on this CD, that I’m now reviewing!). I thought it sounded really good, and I eventually did get it on my iPod. It’s a really upbeat song that just talks about the importance and greatness of loving!

-Point of Grace-Day By Day-As of now, this is the only POG song that I know, but I really like it! I first heard it a couple of months ago and thought it was just fantastic. The Point of Grace ladies (sorry gals, I have no idea what your names are…) have terrific voices, and this song really shows off their talent. It’s a very peppy song and just puts a smile on your face. 😉

-FFH-You Found Me-FFH is a really old group who I don’t know much about (apparently this song was released in 1999, so I don’t know why it’s on this CD). But I do know one thing: and that’s that they have great voices! 😀 The harmonies and vocals in this song are outstanding, and it’s just one of those songs that makes you feel good. This is another song from this CD that I have on my iPod. I don’t listen to it very often, but I still love it!

-Avalon-Everything To Me-I’ve only been interested in Avalon for a couple of months, but in that short amount of time I’ve managed to listen to many of their songs. This song I hadn’t really listened to until recently, but one day I finally decided to try it, and I was blown away! Michael (who sings the first verse)’s vocals on this lovely ballad are just AMAZING. I never knew he could sing that high… 😉 The only thing I don’t like about this song is Melissa (who sings the second verse, and also replaced my #1 favorite Avalon member, Cherie-boohoo! 😦  ). I really don’t like her voice at all, but in this song it’s tolerable.

-Chris Rice-The Other Side of the Radio-This is the first song I’ve listened to by Chris Rice, and I really like it! It’s just a cute, happy song that makes me smile.

Disc 1 Least Favorites:

-Amy Grant-Simple Things-I really DO NOT like Amy Grant (except for her Christmas songs 😉 ). Her voice really gets on my nerves, and she just sounds so fake or something in several of her songs. The song itself isn’t that bad. I think I’d probably like it a lot more, though, if Amy Grant wasn’t singing it. 😉

Disc 2 Favorites:

-ZOEgirl-You Get Me-I LOVE this song. It’s definitely one of my very favorites by ZOEgirl. The song’s message is great, too: even when people in this world don’t understand us, God always does, no matter what. I just ❤ that! 😀

-Rebecca St. James-I Thank You-Rebecca St. James never fails to disappoint! This song, like many of her others, is fantastic, and definitely one of my favorite RSJ songs. She has another song, that’s just called Thank You, and when I first discovered RSJ, I always used to get the two mixed up. 😛 But anyway, I Thank You is great-it always makes me feel really good. Rebecca just sounds awesome in it. 🙂

-Jeremy Camp-I Still Believe-Good old Jeremy Camp. I still hear this song all the time on K-LOVE, which is kind of funny because it’s pretty old. 😉 Despite being 10+ years old, though, it still manages to have a really good message. This message is that we should always trust in God, even if things don’t work out the way we want them to, because He has a plan for our lives. 😉

-Jump5-Why Do I Do-This isn’t my favorite song ever by Jump5, but I still do really like it. Their voices are fantastic in this song, which is really no surprise since their voices are fantastic in every song. 😉 And Libby (who sings the bridge)—man, that girl can SING! Jump5’s music sure didn’t sound the same after she left. 😦

Disc 2 Least Favorites:

-Stacie Orrico-Stuck-I liked Stacie’s song (There’s Gotta Be) More to Life on WOW Hits 2005, but I really don’t like this one at all. It’s definitely not as good. :/ I used to have this song on my iPod, because my sister downloaded it, but I eventually took it off just because the more I listened to it, the more I didn’t like it. So yeah, not one of my favorites.

-Relient K-Getting Into You-I’ve only heard one song by Relient K before…and that happened to be a Christmas song. I was expecting something more rock-ish and upbeat here, but this song was really dull in my opinion. A little too dull, in fact.

-TobyMac-Phenomenon-Yes, our pal Toby was still making music back in 2004 (or rather, 2003, when this album was really released 😉 ). I have to say, though, that I’m not a fan of this song. It’s wayyyyyy too annoying and loud.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed hearing my opinion on several of the songs from WOW Hits 2004! 🙂 I had a really fun time writing about the songs. Would you like for me to do another post like this in the future? If so, let me know in the comments. 😉

Have a great rest of your night!

The Cousins Next Door: Part Four (Finale)

Hurrah! Part four of The Cousins Next Door is finally here! To read parts one, two, and three, click here, here, and here.

Outside, Rebecca looked around the yard, but saw no sign of Cherie. Suddenly, she heard quiet sobbing coming from Janna and Jody’s yard.
Rebecca climbed over the fence and saw Janna and Cherie in the glider swing, with their arms around each other. Cherie was leaning against Janna’s shoulder and crying softly.
Rebecca landed in the yard and hurried over to the girls.
“What’s going on?” Rebecca asked, anxiously. “Cherie, what happened?”
Cherie didn’t answer-she just kept on crying.
“Do you want me to tell her?” Janna asked Cherie gently.
Tell me what? Rebecca wondered.
Cherie shook her head. “I–I’ll tell,” she sniffed.
Rebecca took a seat next to Cherie in the glider, and a few seconds later, Cherie lifted her head from where it lay on Janna’s shoulder. She turned to Rebecca. “You can’t meet my parents,” she hiccupped, “because….because….they’re dead.”
“Both of them?” gasped Rebecca.
Cherie nodded sadly.
“Aw, Cherie, I’m so sorry!” cried Rebecca, hugging her friend. “Have they…have they been gone long?”
Cherie nodded again. “Since I was nine. They died in a car accident. So I’ve lived with Michael and his parents—my aunt and uncle—since then. They’re great, but…it’s just not the same.”
Rebecca nodded sympathetically. Then, suddenly, she thought of something. “Is….is that why you wouldn’t talk to me, or let me come over to your house?” she asked hesitantly.
Cherie gave a nod. “I really wanted to,” she began. “You were so nice. It’s just that…back when we all lived in Melody Valley, once I told my friends about what had happened to my parents, they stopped hanging out with me. I didn’t want that same thing to happen again with you, so…that’s why I didn’t really talk to you much…until now.”
“Cherie, I would never stop being friends with you just because your parents died!” Rebecca exclaimed. “Or for any reason! I really want you—and your cousins—to be my friends. And I know my other friends would like to be pals with you guys, too.”
“Really?” Cherie asked with a smile.
“Yes!” Rebecca cried.
“I’m so glad,” responded Cherie, and Janna agreed. “Living in Songville is going to be fantastic!”

After that day, Rebecca, Janna, and Cherie became best friends. From then on, Cherie didn’t act shy around Rebecca anymore. She was her real, honest, fun-loving self. Rebecca was glad that she had reached out to Cherie, because if she’d stopped trying, she never would have gained her and her cousins for friends…the cousins next door.

Wow! I sure can’t believe the story is over! I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Now, here’s a question for you: would you like to see more Songville stories? (I have quite a few already written.) Or would you like to see something different? Let me know in the comments! 😀

The Cousins Next Door: Part Three

YAY! Part three is finally here! If you need a refresher on what’s happened so far in the story, click the links to read Part One and Part Two.

At 4:00 the next afternoon, the family’s doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it!” cried Rebecca, and raced to open the door. There was Cherie, with a shy smile on her face.
“Hi,” she said quietly.
“Hi, Cherie,” said Rebecca. “Come on in.”
Cherie stepped into the house, and Rebecca led her to the living room. Cherie sat down on the couch, and Rebecca joined her. She asked her guest how her day had gone so far.
“Fine. Just fine,” Cherie replied shyly.
“Would you like to see my room?” Rebecca asked Cherie after a minute of silence.
“Um, sure,” replied Cherie, who was currently looking at the family pictures displayed on one wall of the living room. The girl seemed to have a look of pain in her eyes as she studied the pictures.
“All right then,” said Rebecca, as she stood up and led Cherie to her bedroom.

Cherie didn’t say much while she looked around Rebecca’s room, but she did seem to be enjoying herself. She gave Honey, who was sitting at the edge of Rebecca’s bed, a few pats on the head.
“Your dog is so cute,” she murmured.
Rebecca was pleased that Cherie was saying more than she had the other day. “Thanks,” she replied. “Honey sure is adorable. Right, Honey?”
Honey just wagged her tail and gave Rebecca a big, doggie grin.
The girls were leaving Rebecca’s room not long after this, and were headed to the kitchen for a snack, when Joel and Luke came heading down the hall towards them.
“Oh, good!” Rebecca exclaimed. “Cherie, you can meet my brothers.”
When the boys came closer, she introduced Cherie to Joel and Luke, then Joel and Luke to Cherie.
Cherie seemed pleased to meet Rebecca’s brothers, and Joel and Luke were happy to meet Cherie, too.
Cherie still seemed a little shy, so Joel and Luke decided to be funny, and spoke in different accents. At first, Cherie just giggled at the impressions, but as the boys’ imitations got more creative, Cherie really started laughing hard.
Rebecca laughed, too, even though she’d heard her brothers speak like this a million other times. She was mostly laughing because she was so relieved that Cherie was having a good time. Little by little, she seemed to be breaking out of her shell.

Once Rebecca and Cherie (and Joel and Luke, who had decided to join them) had finished their snack of graham crackers and milk, they all sat around the kitchen table and talked for a few minutes. They had just started a discussion about cats when Rebecca’s parents walked in.
“Oh!” Rebecca cried, leaping out of her chair to stand behind Cherie’s seat. “Mom, Dad, this is Cherie. Cherie, this is my mom and dad.”
Rebecca’s parents were very happy to meet Cherie, and Cherie seemed to be happy, too, although now she started to act super shy again. Rebecca wondered why that was.
When Rebecca’s parents left the room, Rebecca turned to Cherie and asked, “Aren’t they nice?”
Cherie managed a tiny smile and gave a nod.
“You know, Cherie,” Rebecca went on, “I’m sure your parents are just as nice as mine. Do you think I could meet them sometime?”
Cherie just stared at Rebecca for a minute, a grief-stricken look on her face. Then, sobbing quietly, she leaped out of her chair and hurried out the back door.
Rebecca just stood there for a minute in shock. Then she turned to her brothers. “What did I say?” she gasped.
Both boys shrugged. “Nothing,” responded Luke. “You’d better go check on Cherie, though.”
“Yeah, make sure she’s okay,” Joel agreed.
Rebecca nodded. “I’ll be back,” she promised, and hurried out the kitchen door.

Dun, dun, dun!!!! The suspense!!! You’ll have to wait until part 4 to find out what happens! But…while you’re waiting…why do you think Cherie’s upset? If you have a guess as to why, let me know in the comments. 😉
