The Music Tag…Again ;)

Megan nominated me for the Music Tag! (Thanks, Megan!) I did this award before, a while back, and had so much fun that I was hoping I’d be tagged again! And now I’ve gotten my wish. ๐Ÿ™‚

OK, so here we go!

Rules:
Write ten songs that come on shuffle (no skipping).
Write your favourite lyric from each song.
Tag some peeps.

Sounds easy enough. ๐Ÿ˜‰

TobyMac-Beyond Me-You gave me the stars, put them out of my reach/Called me to waters a little too deep/Oh, I’ve never been so aware of my needs/You keep on making me see/It’s way beyond me

Out of Eden-Soldiers-All they throw at me, I’m not falling for it/They think I’m alone, they got it all wrong!

Avalon-In A Different Light-Don’t be afraid/Of the twists and the turns of the road that we’re on, just believe/There’ll come a day/When our faith turns to sight and we’ll see His face/While we’re here, the heartache’s hard to ignore, so for now we’ll keep our eyes on the Lord!

Rachael Lampa-You Lift Me Up-You lift me up/I’m touching the blue sky/You lift me up/I’m on top of the world/You lift me up/I’m getting closer to Heaven in every little thing I learn/You lift me up

Avalon-All Hail The Power of Jesus’ Name (Live)- O that with yonder sacred throng/We at his feet may fall!! (I had to look the lyrics up, BTW. I couldn’t understand what Cherie was singing. XD)

for KING & COUNTRY-Without Love-When the future becomes the past/You will see that it is never gonna last/I’ve got something to tell you (By the way, Joel and Luke actually performed this song on Rebecca St. James CD aLIVE in Florida. They weren’t actually for KING & COUNTRY yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ They sound sooo much younger in this song!)

Casting Crowns-Courageous-We were made to be courageous/We were made to lead the way/We could be the generation that finally breaks the chains/We were made to be courageous/We were made to be courageous!!

ZOEgirl-Forevermore-Peace like a river/Joy like a fountain flow/Wherever you go

Building 429-Where I Belong-All I know is I’m not home yet/This is not where I belong/Take this world and give me Jesus/This is not where I belong

Capital Kings-You’ll Never Be Alone-I’m the streetlights that guide you home/I’ll be the GPS when you’ve lost your phone/I’ll be the song that’s rocking in your headphones/I’ll show the signs to let you know/You’ll never be alone

And….I decided to add a bonus song, which is Breakfast by the Newsboys-When the toast has burned and all the milk has turned/And Cap’n Crunch is waving farewell/When the Big One finds you/May this song remind you/That they don’t serve breakfast in hell!

So there you go! If you’d like to do this award (even if you’ve done it before) feel free! โค

Have a good night. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Angels We Have Heard On High…Which Version Is Your Favorite?

Hello, hello!! I’ve missed you all so much! I’m sorry I haven’t done the 25 Songs of Christmas since MONDAY(!), but I have a good reason for not doing it, I promise. My family was extremely busy this past week with Christmas preparations and events (last night was my cousin’s Christmas show, another night we went to visit friends, etc.). Also, I’ve been having some Internet problems this week. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But don’t worry…I’m here now!

I was wondering what I was going to do to make up for the three days (not counting today) that I’ve missed…and then I got a great idea. ๐Ÿ™‚ Below are three different versions of Angels We Have Heard On High…and I’d like you to listen to the songs and pick the version that you like the best! ๐Ÿ˜€

Here’s a version by ZOEgirl:

Then for KING & COUNTRY:

And finally, Josh Groban and Brian McKnight:

Let me know which one you like best in the comments! ๐Ÿ˜€ (Just for the record, I’d have to pick ZOEgirl’s version as my favorite. Although I love them all, I listen to ZOEgirl’s take on it even when it’s not Christmas! ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Today’s song choice will be up in one second! See you soon! ๐Ÿ˜‰

31-Day Blogging Challenge: Day 4

Hey guys!!

image

Today I’ll be talking about 10 songs I love right now. ๐Ÿ™‚ I had a hard time narrowing my choices down to just 10, but I think I’ve got a pretty good batch right here. So here they are, in no particular order. ๐Ÿ˜‰

1. Plumb-Exhale

https://youtu.be/xQcJjDcST1A

I love this song so much! ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s actually pretty new, but I’m kind of obsessed with it. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Rebecca St. James-God

https://youtu.be/niCgFJB2SGU

I only discovered this song the other day, but I really, REALLY like it! And it’s from 1996 (wow!), but surprisingly, it doesn’t sound too dated in my opinion. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. Avalon-The Glory

https://youtu.be/Q49jfvNmZmo

I love this song SO. MUCH. There’s just something about the harmonies, the vocals, the words, the music, and just the way that everything blends together that just grabs my heart. This is such an amazing song, too, about Christ’s Passion.

4. Brian Free and Assurance-You Must Have Met Him

I love this song, because the bouncy, upbeat nature of it just makes me feel really happy. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It’s definitely my favorite BFA tune. This song is also one I’m really loving right now, because it was recommended to me by my good friend Christian Homeschooler. ๐Ÿ˜€

5. for KING & COUNTRY-Fine Fine Life

I did a post about this song once before, but in case you missed that (it was a while ago), here it is again for you. ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is one of my all time favorite songs, because it’s just so positive, and the message is something we all really need to remember. Even if things don’t go the way we want them to in life, it’s still a good life (or a “fine fine” one, LOL)!

6. Jason Castro-Only A Mountain

The lyrics to this song are so inspiring and positive. Plus the music video is really cool, too! Although, I will say that I think Jason Castro could use a haircut…. ๐Ÿ˜‰

7. Rebecca St. James-Quiet You With My Love

The lyrics to this song are so sweet! ๐Ÿ™‚ Especially the lines, “Lay your head down on my shoulders/Be still, my child/Rest a while/And I’ll quiet you with My love“.

8. Jump5-Welcome

Jump5 takes on their own version of this song from the Disney movie Brother Bear, and I have to say, I like their version a lot better than the one that was in the movie. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s very upbeat and great to dance to! I also love Jump5’s harmonies in this song…they’re spectacular!

9. Moriah Peters-Brave

My very favorite song by Moriah Peters. ๐Ÿ™‚ It always really helps me to feel brave in situations when I’m really scared. ๐Ÿ˜‰

10. ZOEgirl-Ordinary Day

A terrific song by ZOEgirl that reminds us how a seemingly normal day can be turned into an extraordinary day when God comes into the picture!!

Well guys, I hope you enjoyed reading about 10 songs that I love right now! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post…all about pet peeves… ๐Ÿ˜‰

100 Random Questions

Hey everybody! I’m back from vacation, and even though I did miss all of you so much, I had a really great time just relaxing and being with my family.

Anyway, Lydia did these questions on her blog, and they looked like a lot of fun, so I decided to do them, too! Here we go:

1.ย Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.ย

That would be Frindle by Andrew Clements. And what do you know, there’s only a picture on page 18, no words! So, let’s skip to page 19:
“because he hardly ever had homework. Oh, sure-”
Words to live by. ๐Ÿ˜‰

2.ย Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?ย

My clock radio on my night table. ๐Ÿ™‚

3.ย What is the last thing you watched on TV?ย

QVC (don’t laugh). The Orthaheel guy was on (he’s from Australia and he sells shoes), and I’m fascinated by that man. Plus he always seems to be on. So I watched him for a little bit, and I learned that he has interesting fashion sense (I think he was wearing either dark purple or dark red pants with a blue and white shirt?).

4.ย Without looking, guess what time it is.ย

6:55 pm.

5.ย Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?ย

6:52 pm. Wow, am I good or what? (Okay, fine, I looked at a clock not too long before I answered this question…so I guess I’m not as good as I thought I was. ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

6.ย What is on the walls of the room you are in?

I’m in my room, so…a “Peace and Love” fuzzy poster that I got at the craft store and colored in myself, a pink mirror, my “honor roll” award from when I was still in public school (that I need to take down), a diploma that my parents made me for finishing one school year, a crucifix (cross), and a purple clock that’s currently broken.

7.ย Are you listening to music right now?ย

Nope! But I do have Avalon’s The Glory stuck in my head right now, so…I guess that counts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

8.ย What color is your bedroom carpet?ย

I don’t have carpet in my bedroom, but I do have a medium-sized purple, pink, and white striped rug by my bed.

9.ย What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?ย

What I have planned for the day, or what I’m going to have for breakfast. ๐Ÿ˜‰

10.ย If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?ย

Pope Francis. Hey, he’s coming to the States soon, it could happen! ๐Ÿ˜› Even though I don’t live in Pennsylvania…

11.ย Who sent you the last text message youย received?ย

Uh…the phone company. They were trying to sell me something. ๐Ÿ™‚ If that doesn’t count though, then my aunt. ๐Ÿ˜‰

12.ย What did you do for your last birthday?ย

I went out to lunch with my family, and then we stayed at our favorite hotel for one night. It was great. ๐Ÿ™‚ We went swimming and ate snacks. Plus the weather was great, so we did a lot of walking too! ๐Ÿ˜€

13.ย Is the glass half empty or half full?ย

Half full! What else would it be?

14.ย If you could meet any one person (from history or currently alive), who would it be?ย

That’s hard! Um….Valerie Tripp.

15.ย What’s under your bed?ย

Shoes, dust, and the big bin where we keep all our gift wrap. ๐Ÿ˜€

16.ย Think fast, what do you like right now?ย

Chocolate chip cookies!

17.ย Do you sing in the shower?ย

Nooo…sadly, I don’t.

18.ย What do you want to be when you grow up?ย

Either a mom , an author, or a teacher. Or all three! ๐Ÿ˜€

19.ย If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation where would you go?ย

I just got back from a vacation (to NJ!). I might want to go back there, because it was fun. I’d also like to go to Fredericksburg, Virginia (it’s really nice there!), England, Germany, Italy, or Australia/New Zealand.

20.ย Are you a morning person or a night owl?ย

Kind of both…but I think more of a morning person.

21.ย Can you touch your nose with your tongue?ย

I will try and get back to you on that…okay, don’t think I can. :/

22.ย Can you close your eyes and raise your eyebrows?ย

That I can do. ๐Ÿ™‚

23.ย Do you have pets?ย

Yup! An adorable husky named Gracie.

24.ย What is your best childhood memory?ย

I have a lot, but I think my favorite would probably either be: my cousin’s wedding, where I was a flower girl, or when I went to theater day camp in third grade. That was fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

25.ย What’s your favorite color?ย

Purple! Like a light purple, not dark purple. I’m very specific. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also like pink, blue, and yellow. ๐Ÿ™‚

26.ย What’s your favorite food?ย

Chicken tenders!!

27.ย What’s your favorite dessert?ย

Ice cream. ๐Ÿ™‚

28.ย How old are you?ย

I can’t say exactly, but I am a teenager.

29.ย What are some of your favorite books?ย

American Girl books (of course!), anything by Andrew Clements, Chicken Soup for the Soul books (especially the Christmas ones!), and many, many more!

30.ย What are some of your favorite movies?ย

Godspell, Anne of Green Gables, The Prince of Egypt, and The Sound of Music.

31.ย What kind of music are you into?ย

Anything Christian! Especially contemporary Christian music. Some of my favorite groups/artists are Avalon, Jump5, ZOEgirl, Rebecca St. James, for KING & COUNTRY, Francesca Battistelli…the list just goes on and on and on.

32.ย If you were going to write a book, what would you call it and what would it be about?ย

Hmm. Well, I kind of already wrote my ideal “book” (it’s really a short story), called Dare to Be Different. (I’ll hopefully be posting it on here soon.) It’s basically about just being yourself even if others think you’re strange. ๐Ÿ™‚

33.ย What accomplishment are you most proud of?ย

Probably when I got an A+ on my research report for school last year. ๐Ÿ™‚ I worked hard on that thing!

34.ย If you could visit any country in the world, where would you go?ย

Europe!

35.ย Who are some people you’d like to meet someday?ย

Didn’t we just do this one…? Anyway, I’d love to meet all my readers and followers! ๐Ÿ˜€ (I actually feel like I’ve met all of you already, though!) I’d also love to meet other bloggers like Liz and Jaclynn.
Oh, and Jump5-but as kids, not as twenty-something grownups like they are now. :/ They seem like the type of people I’d want to hang around with. Plus maybe they’d teach me how to do some of their awesome dance moves/gymnastic routines.

36.ย What’s one of your favorite habits you have?ย

Probably the one where I say I’ll put something away, but don’t…and I’ll keep walking past the item. ๐Ÿ˜› That happened to me a few weeks ago. I took my cassette tape box out of my room so I could put it in the basement, and I left it in the upstairs hallway, telling myself I’d take it with me the next time I went downstairs. Well…every time I went downstairs after that, I’d forget the box…and every time I’d go up the stairs, there it was, waiting for me! (It actually was pretty funny.) I ended up finally bringing it down the basement at bedtime. ๐Ÿ˜›

37.ย What are some things that make you really happy?ย

Writing, dolls, stuffed animals, Avalon, my tablet, candy, traveling/being with my family, blogging, and reading!! ๐Ÿ˜€

38.ย What are some things that scare you?ย

Bugs, mice, death, the end of the world, and getting really sick. (I know, interesting combination.)

39.ย Do you like to plan things out in detail or be spontaneous?ย

It depends, but I really love to plan things out, so…the first one. ๐Ÿ˜‰

40.ย Would you rather live in the country or the city?ย

The country. I went to the city once, and was super afraid that I was going to get lost. (I didn’t, luckily!)

41.ย Do you have any brothers or sisters? How many?ย

One terrific sister!

42.ย What’s your favorite part of today so far?ย

When we went to my aunt and uncle’s house for a little while, and I got to see my baby cousin Holly! ๐Ÿ˜€

43.ย What’s your favorite joke?

I don’t really know a lot of jokes…

44.ย Do you like spicy food?

Yes! As long as it’s not super spicy, I’ll eat it!

45.ย If you were a type of animal, what would you be and why?ย

A dog. Everyone loves them, and if I were one, everyone would love me!

46.ย What’s one of the strangest things you’ve ever done?ย

Umm…probably the time a few months ago where I almost ate a ladybug. (Don’t worry, it was by accident-it landed on my water bottle, and I didn’t see it until I put my mouth on the opening….eww!!!)

47.ย What are some of your major goals in life?ย

To get married, have some kids, and…I don’t know what else. Be a good mom, probably. Oh, and to get to Heaven one day, of course!

48.ย What are some of your smaller goals in life?ย

Collect more dolls and stuffed animals, maybe. And to improve my photography skills. ๐Ÿ™‚

49.ย If you could try out any job for one day, what would you like to try?ย

A pet photographer! Now that would be cool.

50.ย What’s your earliest memory?ย

Mmm…getting a Halloween catalog in the mail, and being both fascinated and freaked out by all those Halloween costumes.

51.ย What’s the biggestย decisionย you ever made?ย

Not sure. Probably either to be homeschooled (although it was mainly my parents’ idea, I just agreed to it), or to start this blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

52.ย Who’s your best/closest friend?ย

My sis, but I also have two cousins that I’m extremely close to.

53.ย If you could learn on random skill, what would you learn?ย

How to do gymnastics! Then I’d be able to do all sorts of flips and stuff. That would be fun. Maybe I’d get even better than Jump5! ๐Ÿ˜›

54.ย Are you an introvert or an extrovert?ย

Kind of both, but mostly extrovert. I really can start up a conversation with almost anyone. My cousin always says that I’m “such a people person”!

55.ย Do you think people can control their own destiny?ย

Nope. Only God. ๐Ÿ˜‰

56.ย What are some of the first things you do in the morning?ย

I wake up, go on the Internet/check my mail, and eat breakfast. And, of course, thank God for another great day. ๐Ÿ™‚

57.ย If someone were to make a movie about your life, who would you hope to play you?ย

Maybe Christy Carlson Romano (from Even Stevens)? She looks a lot like me, and her character on Even Stevens (Ren) is similar to me in a way. Or Rebecca St. James, because I think she acts or has acted. She doesn’t look like me, and I’m not Australian, but whatever! ๐Ÿ˜› There’s always wigs, and she can hopefully do an American accent.

58.ย Would you rather be hated or forgotten?ย

Forgotten. I have a good reason for this, too. My mom is one of six siblings, and so all of them, as well as their families, are kind of “famous” in our community. It gets annoying to say, “Oh, yeah, we’re part of the (my mom’s maiden name) family”. Plus, anyone who has met me and/or my sister doesn’t really forget either of us, which I guess is a good thing, but not when you run into someone from your old school. :/ So yeah, I’d rather be forgotten.

59.ย When’s your birthday?ย

In the fall. ๐Ÿ™‚

60.ย How tall are you?ย

Five foot seven, I think. ๐Ÿ˜‰ So yeah, I’m way up there.

61.ย If you were a super hero what powers would you have?ย

I’d want to be invisible and travel back in time. I don’t know if I’d want to fly, though. I’m kind of afraid of heights.

62.ย What is your favorite holiday?ย

Christmas, of course! ๐Ÿ˜€

63.ย Can you tap dance?ย

Nope.

64.ย What’s your favorite pizza topping?

Pepperoni and/or sausage! Mushrooms are good too. ๐Ÿ™‚

65.ย What’s your favorite song?

It’s always changing, but right now I’m particularly fond of Undeniably You by Avalon. If you’d like to listen to it on YouTube, click here.

66.ย Do you prefer baths or showers?ย

Showers! ๐Ÿ˜€ I actually just took one before dinner. And anyway, I can’t even take baths because our tub doesn’t work right anymore. :/

67.ย What color socks are you wearing?ย

I’m not wearing socks right now–I’m actually wearing flip-flops!

68.ย How many pillows do you sleep with?ย

Just one. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But one night on vacation, I woke up with indigestion (because we ate dinner late and I had a really creamy, heavy soup with my meal), so my mom gave me another pillow to help with that.

69.ย Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?ย

Sunrises. A whole new day is just beginning! ๐Ÿ˜€

70.ย What do you typically have for breakfast?ย

It depends on what we have in the house. But usually, either cereal or yogurt (or sometimes both!).

71.ย Have you ever been in a newspaper?ย

Yes. A store at the mall was closing, and the reporter got a picture of my family looking through the empty store window. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, a few months ago, my aunt’s town had their annual community yard sale, and the newspaper was there taking pictures. My mom and I tried really hard to get in a picture, and I’m sure the photographer knew what we were doing. But we didn’t get in, unfortunately.

72.ย What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep?ย

Dunno. A couple of nights last summer, though, I didn’t fall asleep till around 3am…does that count?

73.ย What’s been your best present?ย

I’d have to say the blue backpack with roses all over it that I got for Christmas last year. I love it!

74.ย Have you ever sleepwalked?

Not that I know of.

75.ย Can you do any accents other than your own?ย

Not sure. I guess I can kind of do a British accent, and an Australian accent, too. I was pretending to talk like Rebecca St. James on vacation, but I’m not sure how great of a job I did. It was funny, though. ๐Ÿ™‚

76.ย What are your favorite smell/scents?

Vanilla, cakes baking, mowed grass, perfume.

77.ย Are you left or right handed?ย

Right handed!

78.ย Are you a clean or messy person?ย

I’m pretty clean. ๐Ÿ™‚

79.ย Who would you want to play in a movie about your life?ย

Refer to question #57, please. ๐Ÿ˜‰

80.ย Who’s your favorite villain?ย

Captain Hook, probably. We’re big on Peter Pan around here. XD

81.ย If you were in a band, what instrument/role would you play?ย

Background vocals, probably. I love the way the background singers blend with the leads. ๐Ÿ™‚

82.ย Do you talk to yourself?

Nope, but I do talk to the dog a lot when no one else is in the room. So I guess kind of.

83.ย Do you sing to yourself?ย

Sometimes, but not as much as I used to.

84.ย What’s your favorite Disney movie?ย

I love so many of them, but either Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, or Mary Poppins.

85.ย Do you always wear identical socks?ย

I don’t wear socks much in the summer, but when I do wear socks, yes, they’re identical.

86.ย What’s the mostย unusualย name you ever came across?ย

Uh…Shia LaBeouf. Not even 100% sure I spelled that right. ๐Ÿ˜‰

87.ย Have you ever walked into a wall?

Yes! I think I did it today actually…

88.ย What color are your eyes?ย

Brown.

89.ย Are you allergic to anything?ย

Nope! Unless springtime pollen counts.

90.ย Have you ever heard any outstanding rumors about yourself?ย

Luckily, no!

91.ย If you had a warning label, what would yours say?ย

WARNING: Incredibly sweet and talented girl who loves to talk nonstop about anything and everything that interests her!

92.ย What was the last thing you ate?ย

A mini Twix bar. ๐Ÿ˜‰

93.ย Which fictional character do you wish was real?ย

Ramona Quimby. ๐Ÿ™‚ I looked a lot like her in second grade.

94.ย Do you like vanilla or chocolate?ย

Both. ๐Ÿ˜‰

95.ย Which would you rather have if you had to, a broken leg or a broken arm?ย

A broken leg.

96.ย What nicknames do you have/had etc?ย

Hmmm….does Sunny count?

97.ย If you were to become a famous singer, what would your debut album be called?ย

Tough one. Mmm…how about Sunny Skies? I like how that sounds.

98.ย Have you ever performed in front of a large audience?ย

Yes…at school concerts and such, back when I went to public school.

99.ย If you met a Genie who offered you three wishes, what would you wish for? (More wishes does not count)

1. To have more friends in the real world.
2. To have a wonderful rest of my life.
3. For love, peace, and respect in the world.

100.ย If you ruled your own country, who would you get to write your national anthem?

for KING & COUNTRY, of course! I mean, just look at their name-country’s right in it!

Wow! It took me almost three hours to answer these questions, but I had fun! I hope you enjoyed reading these answers, and learning a little bit more about me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great night!

The Cousins Next Door: Part Three

YAY! Part three is finally here! If you need a refresher on what’s happened so far in the story, click the links to read Part One and Part Two.

At 4:00 the next afternoon, the family’s doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it!” cried Rebecca, and raced to open the door. There was Cherie, with a shy smile on her face.
“Hi,” she said quietly.
“Hi, Cherie,” said Rebecca. “Come on in.”
Cherie stepped into the house, and Rebecca led her to the living room. Cherie sat down on the couch, and Rebecca joined her. She asked her guest how her day had gone so far.
“Fine. Just fine,” Cherie replied shyly.
“Would you like to see my room?” Rebecca asked Cherie after a minute of silence.
“Um, sure,” replied Cherie, who was currently looking at the family pictures displayed on one wall of the living room. The girl seemed to have a look of pain in her eyes as she studied the pictures.
“All right then,” said Rebecca, as she stood up and led Cherie to her bedroom.

Cherie didn’t say much while she looked around Rebecca’s room, but she did seem to be enjoying herself. She gave Honey, who was sitting at the edge of Rebecca’s bed, a few pats on the head.
“Your dog is so cute,” she murmured.
Rebecca was pleased that Cherie was saying more than she had the other day. “Thanks,” she replied. “Honey sure is adorable. Right, Honey?”
Honey just wagged her tail and gave Rebecca a big, doggie grin.
The girls were leaving Rebecca’s room not long after this, and were headed to the kitchen for a snack, when Joel and Luke came heading down the hall towards them.
“Oh, good!” Rebecca exclaimed. “Cherie, you can meet my brothers.”
When the boys came closer, she introduced Cherie to Joel and Luke, then Joel and Luke to Cherie.
Cherie seemed pleased to meet Rebecca’s brothers, and Joel and Luke were happy to meet Cherie, too.
Cherie still seemed a little shy, so Joel and Luke decided to be funny, and spoke in different accents. At first, Cherie just giggled at the impressions, but as the boys’ imitations got more creative, Cherie really started laughing hard.
Rebecca laughed, too, even though she’d heard her brothers speak like this a million other times. She was mostly laughing because she was so relieved that Cherie was having a good time. Little by little, she seemed to be breaking out of her shell.

Once Rebecca and Cherie (and Joel and Luke, who had decided to join them) had finished their snack of graham crackers and milk, they all sat around the kitchen table and talked for a few minutes. They had just started a discussion about cats when Rebecca’s parents walked in.
“Oh!” Rebecca cried, leaping out of her chair to stand behind Cherie’s seat. “Mom, Dad, this is Cherie. Cherie, this is my mom and dad.”
Rebecca’s parents were very happy to meet Cherie, and Cherie seemed to be happy, too, although now she started to act super shy again. Rebecca wondered why that was.
When Rebecca’s parents left the room, Rebecca turned to Cherie and asked, “Aren’t they nice?”
Cherie managed a tiny smile and gave a nod.
“You know, Cherie,” Rebecca went on, “I’m sure your parents are just as nice as mine. Do you think I could meet them sometime?”
Cherie just stared at Rebecca for a minute, a grief-stricken look on her face. Then, sobbing quietly, she leaped out of her chair and hurried out the back door.
Rebecca just stood there for a minute in shock. Then she turned to her brothers. “What did I say?” she gasped.
Both boys shrugged. “Nothing,” responded Luke. “You’d better go check on Cherie, though.”
“Yeah, make sure she’s okay,” Joel agreed.
Rebecca nodded. “I’ll be back,” she promised, and hurried out the kitchen door.

Dun, dun, dun!!!! The suspense!!! You’ll have to wait until part 4 to find out what happens! But…while you’re waiting…why do you think Cherie’s upset? If you have a guess as to why, let me know in the comments. ๐Ÿ˜‰

5 Christian Artists You Need To Know

Hey guys! Today I’m going to tell you about five wonderful Christian artists who you really need to listen to! ๐Ÿ˜€ I personally really enjoy all of these people’s music, and I’m sure by the end of this post you will too!! So…let’s get started!

5. Brian Free and Assurance
My good friend Christian Homeschooler told me about this group not long ago, and I really became interested in their music! Brian Free and Assurance is a Southern Gospel quartet, and let me tell you, they are amazing. They have great voices and can all harmonize really well. So far, my favorite song by them is definitely You Must Have Met Him. It’s very upbeat, and I absolutely love it. ๐Ÿ™‚

4. Plumb
Today, Plumb is the stage name of a woman named Tiffany Arbuckle Lee, but what you may not know is that Plumb actually started out as a Christian band in the 90’s, which Lee was actually a part of. (I didn’t know this till recently either, so don’t feel bad!) I’ve only heard one song by Plumb (the band), God-Shaped Hole (which I love!). Several of Plumb (the singer)’s songs are kind of…depressing-sounding but have great messages in them, such as Need You Now (How Many Times), which I wrote about before in this post. On the other hand, though, some of Plumb’s songs are really upbeat, such as One Drop.

3. Moriah Peters
Moriah Peters could seriously be my twin, or if not, then a relative of mine. Basically, look at a picture of her and that’s pretty much what I look like, except for a few differences. ๐Ÿ˜‰ She isn’t too well-known yet, but she still manages to have some terrific songs, particularly Brave (which you can listen to in this post) and You Carry Me. Also, did you know that her husband is Joel from for KING & COUNTRY? I think that is so cool!

2. ZOEgirl
ZOEgirl was one of the first Christian bands that I got into, all the way back in 2011. It consists of three young women that have amazingly talented voices. They disbanded a while ago, but their songs are still fantastic! I have several favorites, but one of them is definitely Feel Alright (which was also the first ZOEgirl song I listened to!!). It’s very upbeat and positive, which a lot of their songs are. If you’re looking for some good songs to dance to, I’d highly recommend giving ZOEgirl a listen. ๐Ÿ˜‰

1. (Peter Furler) Newsboys
Right now, the lead singer of the Newsboys is an American man named Michael Tait. He’s the one that sang lead on God’s Not Dead, We Believe, etc. But before Michael Tait stepped in (before 2010), an Australian by the name of Peter Furler was the lead singer of the Newsboys. He sang lead for songs like He Reigns, Shine, and Breakfast. For some reason, most of the songs by the Newsboys that my sister and I prefer are the Peter Furler ones. Nothing against Michael Tait, he has a great voice, but most of the time we just prefer Peter Furler around here. So if you’re new to the Newsboys (haha, get it?), I’d recommend trying some of their older songs, which Peter Furler sings. Trust me, it’ll sound like a completely different band.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this list! ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some YouTube links to a few of the songs I recommended above:

Newsboys-He Reigns
Brian Free and Assurance-You Must Have Met Him
Plumb-One Drop
Plumb (band)-God Shaped Hole
Moriah Peters-You Carry Me
ZOEgirl-Feel Alright

The Cousins Next Door: Part Two

Hey guys! Today I’ll be posting the next part of The Cousins Next Door. If you haven’t read the first part yet, or just want a refresher on what happened, feel free to check it out here.

The next day, after her family came home from church, Rebecca scrambled over the fence and into Janna and Jody’s yard, where she found Janna crouched down on the ground, camera in hand, taking a picture of a purple flower growing on a nearby bush. Cherie stood behind her, watching.
“Hi!” Rebecca exclaimed.
Startled, Janna let out a cry and fell backward onto Cherie’s foot.
“Oh, sorry!” gasped Rebecca. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“That’s all right, Rebecca,” Janna responded, getting to her feet. Cherie helped to brush some dirt off of the back of Janna’s denim jean jacket.
“So you were taking pictures?” Rebecca asked.
Janna nodded. “Yup. I love photography.” She showed Rebecca the pictures she’d taken on her camera that day. When they came to a picture of a growing plant, Janna said, “That’s a tomato plant Cherie started growing at her old house. She brought it with her when we all moved, and now it’s over in Cherie’s yard.”
“Wow, that is so cool!” cried Rebecca, who had never grown anything in her life. “Was it hard to plant, Cherie?”
“No,” Cherie said quietly, her eyes on the ground.
“Hey, at your old house, did you ever have a garden?” Rebecca wondered. “My friend Chris-you’ll meet him at school next week-he has a garden, and he grows eggplant! Isn’t that cool?” She thought that fact would grab Cherie’s attention.
“Wow, eggplant?” Janna exclaimed, raising her eyebrows. “That’s neat.”
“Mm-hm,” Cherie mumbled, her eyes still fixed on the ground.
“Yeah,” said Rebecca. “He’s in charge of a gardening class that meets in the park once a month. You guys should go.”
“It sounds fun,” Janna replied. Cherie didn’t say anything.
After a minute, Rebecca asked brightly, “Hey, Cherie. Think I could go check out your tomato plant now? I’d love to see how it’s coming along.”
Cherie played with the edges of her flowy, pink sleeveless top. “Um, maybe another time,” she said, very softly. “I…have to go.”
She turned towards her house.
“OK,” Rebecca said, trying not to sound disappointed. “I have to go, too. See you girls later!”
As she climbed back over the fence and into her own yard, Rebecca decided that she’d just have to be patient. She’d keep trying with Cherie, no matter how long it took her.

The days passed, and every day after school, Rebecca would go over to Janna and Jody’s yard and hang out with the cousins. Every day, she’d try to make conversation with Cherie, but she never got too far.
That Wednesday night, Rebecca sat on the couch in the living room, deep in thought. She was trying to figure out how to get through to Cherie. She needed to do something drastic, something to really get Cherie to carry on a real conversation with Rebecca.
Rebecca tried to think of things that Cherie seemed to like. She knew Cherie liked music, but that afternoon, Rebecca had asked Cherie what her favorite songs were, and Cherie had barely said a word.
While Rebecca was thinking, her brother, Joel, walked into the room.
“Hey,” he greeted his sister. “What are you doing just sitting there?”
“I’m thinking,” Rebecca replied. She told Joel about Cherie. “I just don’t know how to get her to really start talking to me,” she finished.
Joel perched himself on one arm of the couch and sat in thought for a minute. “You could tell her a joke,” he suggested. “Maybe if she has something to laugh about, Cherie’ll open up.”
“Yeah, maybe,”said Rebecca doubtfully. “But I don’t know, I’m not too good at telling jokes. I always mess up the punch line or…” Suddenly, she sat up straight. An idea had come to her.”Waitย  a minute. I’ve got it!”
“What is it?” Joel asked his sister.
“Well, I just realized. I haven’t introduced Cherie and the others to our family yet. What if I invited them over tomorrow? Maybe you and Luke could try to make them-and Cherie-laugh. You guys are always joking around,” Rebecca explained.
Luke was Rebecca’s other brother.
“OK,” Joel agreed. “I like it. I’m sure Luke will approve of the plan.”
“Great!” cheered Rebecca. “Let me just ask Mom and Dad if it’s alright.”

As it turned out, Rebecca’s parents were all for the idea. So that night, Rebecca called Janna and invited her and the others to come over the next day.
“I’d love to come,” Janna began. “But Jody, Michael, and I are still fixing up our bedrooms and unpacking from the move, and probably will still be doing that for a while.”
“Oh,” sighed Rebecca. So much for her great idea.
“But wait,” Janna continued. “I think Cherie might be free. She got a super head start on the rest of us and started unpacking almost right away!”
“Oh, that’d be great if she could come!” cried Rebecca. If Cherie just came by herself, it would be so much easier for Rebecca to try and get through to her.
“I’ll call her and ask her, and then I’ll call you back and let you know what Cherie says,” Janna told Rebecca.
“Sure,” Rebecca agreed.
Cherie had said yes to the invitation, so Rebecca went to bed that night feeling pretty excited. However, at the time, she could never have prepared herself for what was to come the next day.

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for part 3 coming soon! ๐Ÿ˜€

The Cousins Next Door: Part One

Hey guys! If you read my Beautiful People postย from earlier this week, then you probably remember that I said I was thinking about posting the story that revolved around Cherie (whose parents the questions focused on). Well, good news-I’ve decided I’m going to do that! Before I post the first part of the story, (which is called The Cousins Next Door), I’m going to give you all a little background on the characters, what the story is about, etc.

Okay, so this story (which is called The Cousins Next Door) is part of a short story series I write. Basically this series is about a group of friends (who are all Christian singers I’m interested in) that live in a small, little town called (of course) Songville. The stories focus on at least one character and a problem that they are facing, which usually one or more characters helps them to solve. In real life, a lot of the characters are actually adults (aka over 18), but in my series, I think of them all as being around high-school age. They all go to school together, and are all in the same class (although the characters are not all the same ages).

Anyway, in this story, the members of Avalon (Janna, Jody, Cherie, and Michael-who are all cousins in my series) move to town. They move near to where Rebecca St. James and her brothers Joel and Luke (aka for KING & COUNTRY) live. (BTW, click on the links to see pictures of each character. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) Rebecca tries to befriend Cherie, but this turns out to be pretty difficult, as Cherie is very shy. So Rebecca works hard to try and get Cherie to warm up to her. I won’t say anymore, as it’ll spoil the story. ๐Ÿ˜‰ So without further ado, here’s part one of The Cousins Next Door!

One sunny Saturday morning in the small town of Songville, Rebecca St. James was outside in her backyard, playing fetch with her dog, Honey. “Go get the stick, Honey!” Rebecca cried, throwing the stick. Honey grabbed the stick and brought it back to Rebecca, her small tail wagging wildly.
“Good girl, Honey!” Rebecca praised the dog, as she gently pried the stick out of her dog’s mouth.
Just then, Rebecca heard shouting and laughing coming from the backyard next door. I wonder what’s going on over there, she thought to herself.
She peeked through the fence and saw two boys and two girls, seemingly all near her age, tossing around a ball. Rebecca decided to go say hello to these kids and see what they were up to. She slipped over the fence and landed in the grassy next-door yard. The four kids stopped playing with the ball and were now staring intently at Rebecca.
Rebecca brushed some grass from the knees of her jeans, then smiled at the four. “Hi,” she greeted them. “I didn’t know anyone lived here.”
She studied the group. One girl had long, straight brown hair and one had long, curly brown hair-like Rebecca, only a little shorter and darker. One of the boys had short, spiky dark hair, while the other had his blond and short.
“We just moved in,” the girl with straight dark hair replied. “I’m Janna.”
The others then introduced themselves to Rebecca. The brown-haired boy was named Jody, the girl with curly brown hair was named Cherie, and the blond-haired boy was named Michael.
Rebecca introduced herself to the group and said, “It’s nice to meet you all.”
“Same,” the others chorused.
“So, are you all brothers and sisters?” Rebecca asked.
“Nope, we’re all cousins,” said Michael. “None of us have any brothers or sisters.”
“But we’re all so close, it seems like we’re siblings sometimes,” Janna added.
“So…you all live in this house?” Rebecca asked, studying the medium-sized, tan-colored house. It didn’t seem big enough for four different families to live in.
“No,” said Jody. “Janna’s family and mine live in this house, and then…Michael and Cherie live in he one next door to ours.”
“Ohh, okay,” Rebecca replied, nodding.
“Rebecca, do you want to play ball with us?” asked Janna.
“OK,” Rebecca agreed, smiling.
The five formed a circle and tossed the ball to each other. Rebecca stood between Jody and Cherie, and that’s when she realized that Cherie hadn’t said a word so far, except to introduce herself.
Rebecca smiled at Cherie, and Cherie gave Rebecca a small smile in return before quickly looking away.
I wonder what’s up with her, Rebecca thought. Maybe she’s just shy.
Just them the ball came flying towards Rebecca. She giggled. “A heads-up next time would be nice!” she laughed to Michael, who had thrown her the ball.
“OK, I’ll remember that,” Michael laughed back.
After the game finally ended, the five hung out in the yard and chatted for a while. Janna, Rebecca, and Michael sat in the red cushioned glider swing in the yard, while Cherie and Jody sat on the paved ground in front of the swing.
“So, are you going to all be attending Songville School?” Rebecca asked the cousins.
Janna nodded. “We’re starting there next week.”
“That’s great!” Rebecca exclaimed. “You’ll love it there. The teachers and students are all really nice.”
“That’s good,” replied Jody. “We all have Miss Brown. Do you have her?”
Rebecca nodded excitedly. “Yes! My brothers and all my friends do. She’s terrific.”
This led to a discussion of what everyone’s favorite school subject was. “I like English,” Rebecca stated. Then she turned and looked down at Cherie. “How about you, Cherie?”
Cherie mumbled something, but Rebecca couldn’t hear what she’d said.ย  “Hmm?” she questioned, leaning in closer.
“I like music,” Cherie said, a little more clearly. Then she turned away and started picking blades of grass out of the lawn.
“Oh…okay,” Rebecca said after a minute, surprised at Cherie’s behavior. “Yeah, music class is fun.”

When she arrived back home a little while later, Rebecca thought about all the fun she’d had with Cherie, Janna, Jody, and Michael. Then she remembered how Cherie had acted towards Rebecca, both during the game and during their conversation about school. Cherie hadn’t spoken at any other time, and Rebecca thought that it was probably because the girl was shy. Rebecca decided that she was going to try to get Cherie out of her shell. She thought that every time she ran into Cherie, Rebecca would try to start a conversation with her. Eventually Cherie would warm up to Rebecca-Rebecca was sure of that.

Well, that’s all for part one! I really hope you guys enjoyed this story. Part two will be coming soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great night!!

K-LOVE Fan Awards Winners/My Picks

Hi all! First I want to apologize for not getting a post up in almost a week! Last week I was really busy finishing up my schoolwork for the year. I’m happy to say that I’m almost done for the year and will be finished my work sometime this week. So that means…I’ll have much more time to post soon!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway, if any of you listen to the Christian radio station, K-LOVE, you may know that they had a special awards ceremony this weekend called the K-LOVE Fan Awards. Listeners were able to go on the station’s website and vote for who they wanted to win a specific category (Best Artist, Best Live Show, etc.). I did not, as I am under 18, but I did play a little game with myself and decided who I would choose if I could vote. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Now let’s see who actually won, and who I would have picked for the certain awards.

Best Male Artist
Who won: Chris Tomlin
Who I would have picked: Matthew West
No offense to Chris Tomlin, but he seems to be everywhere, and while I do like several of his songs, I have been getting kind of sick of him lately. Plus if I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure he won this award last year. So, I would have picked Matthew West, just because I think he’s a really good singer, and every song I’ve heard by him so far I love. Also, he was the second Christian male artist I ever listened to (the first was Brandon Heath).

Best Female Artist
Who won: Francesca Battistelli
Who I would have picked: Francesca Battistelli
Francesca Battistelli is just awesome. She has a terrific voice and her songs just make me feel really good. I especially love her song This is the Stuff. I’m really happy that she won this award, because in my opinion, she totally deserves it.

Group/Duo of the Year
Who won: for KING & COUNTRY
Who I would have picked: for KING & COUNTRY or Tenth Avenue North
If you’re a long-time reader of my blog, you know how much I love this group. First of all, their songs are terrific, and there aren’t many songs I know by them that I dislike. Secondly, they’re Australian. Thirdly, they just seem like all-around, nice guys who love their families and try to spend as much time as possible with them. (I need to get them over to my house for dinner XD) So, what’s not to love? ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m very pleased they won this award! If I had to choose someone else, though, I would pick Tenth Avenue North, hands down. I love their songs By Your Side, No Man Is An Island, Losing, and Stars In The Night. Plus, Mike Donehey (the awesome lead singer!) has a great voice. ๐Ÿ™‚

Best Live Show
Who won: for KING & COUNTRY
Who I would have picked: for KING & COUNTRY
I’ve never seen any of the nominees’ live shows, but from what I have seen on YouTube of for KING & COUNTRY’s performances (not to mention what I’ve seen/heard from pictures/word of mouth), they just seem amazing! They have so many instruments, like an ENORMOUS drum and cymbals, and it just looks super cool. ๐Ÿ™‚

Worship Song of the Year
Who won: Lauren Daigle-How Can It Be
Who I would have picked: Matt Maher-Because He Lives
Okay, please don’t take offense to this, but I really just can not stand Lauren Daigle’s voice. It’s just kind of raspy or something…I don’t know, but for whatever reason I don’t like her voice. Although the message is nice, I also don’t really care much for the song (mostly because of her voice). So, I would have picked Matt Maher because I really like him, and I also really like the song he was nominated for, which is Because He Lives.

Song of the Year
Who won: Newsboys-We Believe
Who I would have picked: either for KING & COUNTRY-Fix My Eyes or Francesca Battistelli-He Knows My Name
As soon as I saw that the Newsboys were nominated for this award, right away I just knew that they would win. I was right. As much as I love the Newsboys, I feel that they are everywhere and that this song (although the message is great, and I believe in the stuff they talk about) is completely overplayed. Still, congrats to them. ๐Ÿ™‚ However, I would’ve chosen either Fix My Eyes by for KING & COUNTRY or He Knows My Name by Francesca Battistelli. I heard both of those songs several times over the summer last year and absolutely loved them…and still do! ๐Ÿ™‚

Artist of the Year
Who Won: for KING & COUNTRY
Who I would have picked: for KING & COUNTRY (of course) or MercyMe
Well, I was certainly the happiest girl in the world when I saw that Joel and Luke won three awards! ๐Ÿ™‚ If I had to pick a different artist to win, though, I think I would go with MercyMe. Their songs are absolutely terrific, and I feel that they aren’t getting as much recognition as they used to. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, that covers all the awards! My heartiest congratulations to all the winners (and all the nominees!), even if I wouldn’t have chosen them myself.

Now, I want to know…who would you have chosen? Go to the K-LOVE Fan Awards page on the K-LOVE website and check it out for yourselves! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

It’s A Fine Fine Life…

Hey guys! I don’t usually like to post back-to-back music posts, but this is an exception. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I just listened to this great song by For King & Country for the first time called Fine Fine Life (how I managed to miss this one till now, I have no idea, because it’s definitely not new. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). Anyway, I absolutely love the message in this song. Even when we’re suffering or bad things happen to us in life, we should be positive and look on the bright side. When we do that, we’ll discover that “it’s a fine, fine life”! LOL! ๐Ÿ˜€

Give the song a listen and let me know what you think! Have a great night!

*Sunny
