Jump5-Christmas Like This

With the warm temperatures we’ve been experiencing where I live lately, I sure wouldn’t mind having a Christmas like the one Jump5 is having in this song! πŸ˜€
Okay….maybe I would like it to be a little cold for Christmas. πŸ˜‰ But on December 26, back to warm weather, please! πŸ˜€

Sorry that this is once again late. My internet is STILL having problems (:P), so you can expect late posts for the rest of the week.

Have a great night! πŸ˜€

4. Jump5-If The Snow Doesn’t Fall

Everyone wants to be home on Christmas, spending time with their families and friends. But for some people, as much as I hate to admit it, that isn’t always possible. They might live too far away and can’t afford to travel home for the holidays, or their work schedule prevents them from it.

And for some people…(okay, let’s face it, for many people)…there’s no snow on Christmas. Heck, in some places it’s not even cold! I mean, look at the people in Florida!! And in Australia, many events are actually held outdoors, because down there, Christmas takes place in summer. (Now that is something I just can’t wrap my brain around!)

Basically, what I’m trying to say (and the point Jump5 is trying to make in this song!) is that no matter where you are, or what it’s like outside, on Christmas it’s still Christmas. πŸ™‚ So, even if you can’t make it home for the holidays, or if it happens to be a green Christmas, just make the best of it!

Ten Songs I Love Right Now :)

Hi all! Today I thought I’d share with you some songs that I have either discovered or re-discovered recently, that I really love! πŸ™‚ I’ll be posting YouTube links below each song so you can check them out for yourselves, if you’d like. πŸ˜‰
Does anyone know of another way that I can share songs on here with you guys (besides YouTube)? I know that some of you might not be allowed on YouTube, and I just want to give all of you a chance to listen to some good, clean, positive music. If you do know of anything, please let me know in the comments! πŸ™‚

Okay….now on with the songs!

1. Newsboys-I Fought the La…-I actually only found this song last night, but since then I’ve probably listened to it about five times. It’s REALLY good, and it’s an older Newsboys song (from 2007, I looked it up πŸ˜‰ ), so that means it’s one that’s sung by Peter Furler, not Michael Tait—yay!! (For those that don’t know, I prefer Peter Furler’s voice to Michael Tait’s…don’t know why, I just do.)

2. Rebecca St. James-Pray-I love Rebecca St. James’ music, but up until about a month ago, I’d never heard this song before, and there’s a good reason for it….this song is from 1998!! Talk about WOW! One day I was watching a video where RSJ was talking about the music video for Pray. A few weeks later, I was bored, happened to remember that video, and decided to look up the song. I sure am glad I did, because it ROCKS in my opinion!! πŸ˜€ I look it up all the time now. The music video is really cool too. Check it out!

3. Jump5-Forever In My Heart-Back a couple of years ago, when I was just getting into Jump5 and first started to listen to their music, I discovered this song and it became my absolute FAVORITE song by the group. I’ve discovered plenty more J5 songs since then, so I kind of forgot about it…until Friday night, when I decided to randomly, out of the blue, look it up on YouTube. It’s a really terrific song–Jump5’s voices are (as always) outstanding, the message is great, and the song is super fun to dance to. πŸ™‚

4. Stacie Orrico-(There’s Gotta Be) More to Life- Around 2012, when we were just discovering the world of Christian music, my sister and I found this song and kind of became obsessed with it… πŸ˜‰ It’s really awesome. Last week I found a video about the top 50 Christian songs of the decade, and this song was #50. I hadn’t heard it in a long time, so I listened to it again recently, and forgot how great it was! πŸ˜€

5. Avalon-Fly To You-I found this song not long ago and really love it! The chorus especially is extremely catchy, and can get stuck in your head for the rest of the day if you’re not careful. πŸ˜‰ The pictures of nature used in this video are gorgeous—especially the one of the pink tulips near the end. πŸ™‚

6. Sidewalk Prophets-Prodigal-This is seriously one of my new favorite songs! It worms its way into my brain quite often. I love the inspiring, uplifting, positive lyrics—this song could seriously change somebody’s life! πŸ™‚

7. MercyMe-So Long Self-I’ve really fallen for MercyMe in the past month, but how could I not have? They really have won me over with their lovely lyrics and catchy melodies. This is one of my favorite songs by MercyMe. The music video is hilarious too–I love the beginning. πŸ˜‰

8. Colton Dixon-Never Gone-Ever since this song first came out, I have loved it, especially for the lyrics. πŸ˜‰ I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

9. Jeremy Camp-Take You Back-Jeremy Camp is another artist that I’ve become interested in recently. This song is definitely one of my very favorites by him. I absolutely love the message in it! πŸ˜€

10. Sidewalk Prophets-You Love Me Anyway-I know I’ve already featured Sidewalk Prophets in this post, but hey, I just couldn’t skip this song! I’ve known it about as long as I’ve listened to Christian music (which has been about three and a half years), but I never really paid much attention to it until a few weeks ago, when I heard it on Pandora (an online music app that I use). I realized then how much I LOVED the song, and ever since I’ve been kind of obsessed with it. I love the melody, the lyrics, the singers’ voices…everything! It’s terrific! Give it a listen and tell me if you agree. πŸ™‚

Well, that’s all for now! πŸ™‚ It was actually really fun for me to make up this list…even if I rambled a little about some of the songs. πŸ˜‰ Sorry about that…I’m a little tired right now. πŸ˜›

Anyway…see you all later!

31-Day Blogging Challenge: Day 4

Hey guys!!

Today I’ll be talking about 10 songs I love right now. πŸ™‚ I had a hard time narrowing my choices down to just 10, but I think I’ve got a pretty good batch right here. So here they are, in no particular order. πŸ˜‰

1. Plumb-Exhale

I love this song so much! πŸ˜€ It’s actually pretty new, but I’m kind of obsessed with it. πŸ™‚

2. Rebecca St. James-God

I only discovered this song the other day, but I really, REALLY like it! And it’s from 1996 (wow!), but surprisingly, it doesn’t sound too dated in my opinion. πŸ˜‰

3. Avalon-The Glory

I love this song SO. MUCH. There’s just something about the harmonies, the vocals, the words, the music, and just the way that everything blends together that just grabs my heart. This is such an amazing song, too, about Christ’s Passion.

4. Brian Free and Assurance-You Must Have Met Him

I love this song, because the bouncy, upbeat nature of it just makes me feel really happy. πŸ™‚Β  It’s definitely my favorite BFA tune. This song is also one I’m really loving right now, because it was recommended to me by my good friend Christian Homeschooler. πŸ˜€

5. for KING & COUNTRY-Fine Fine Life

I did a post about this song once before, but in case you missed that (it was a while ago), here it is again for you. πŸ˜‰ This is one of my all time favorite songs, because it’s just so positive, and the message is something we all really need to remember. Even if things don’t go the way we want them to in life, it’s still a good life (or a “fine fine” one, LOL)!

6. Jason Castro-Only A Mountain

The lyrics to this song are so inspiring and positive. Plus the music video is really cool, too! Although, I will say that I think Jason Castro could use a haircut…. πŸ˜‰

7. Rebecca St. James-Quiet You With My Love

The lyrics to this song are so sweet! πŸ™‚ Especially the lines, “Lay your head down on my shoulders/Be still, my child/Rest a while/And I’ll quiet you with My love“.

8. Jump5-Welcome

Jump5 takes on their own version of this song from the Disney movie Brother Bear, and I have to say, I like their version a lot better than the one that was in the movie. πŸ™‚ It’s very upbeat and great to dance to! I also love Jump5’s harmonies in this song…they’re spectacular!

9. Moriah Peters-Brave

My very favorite song by Moriah Peters. πŸ™‚ It always really helps me to feel brave in situations when I’m really scared. πŸ˜‰

10. ZOEgirl-Ordinary Day

A terrific song by ZOEgirl that reminds us how a seemingly normal day can be turned into an extraordinary day when God comes into the picture!!

Well guys, I hope you enjoyed reading about 10 songs that I love right now! Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post…all about pet peeves… πŸ˜‰

Throwback Thursday: A Peek At WOW Hits 2004

Hi everyone! Since the track listing for WOW Hits 2016 was released this week (go here to check it out for yourselves), I thought today I would pick one of the WOW CDs from the past, and share my opinions on several of the songs. WOW Hits 2004 seemed like a pretty good fit, so I decided to choose that one for today’s post.

If you don’t know what WOW Hits CDs are, don’t worry! A few years ago I didn’t even know what they were, either. πŸ˜‰ Each year, a new WOW Hits album is released. Each album contains several Christian songs, usually the most popular Christian tunes from the past year. I received WOW 2014 a few years ago, and I even did a review on it when I was just starting my blog (which you can view here and here).

Now let’s finally get to talking about WOW Hits 2004! I don’t actually own the CD, but I have several of the songs from it on my iPod and have heard a few on YouTube, so a bunch of them I am already familiar with. As with all WOW CDs, there are two discs, so I decided that I would feature my favorite and least favorite songs from each disc in this post.

Disc 1 Favorites:

-Newsboys-He Reigns-This was one of the very first Christian songs I ever heard, in summer 2011. My mom actually discovered it (thanks, Mom!), and downloaded it off of iTunes. When she told me about the song, I wasn’t sure if I would like it, since I was just getting into Christian music at the time and didn’t know very much about it. But after listening to the song several times on my sister’s iPod, I realized that I loved the song, and put it on my iPod right away! Although He Reigns is over ten years old now, it still plays pretty often on K-LOVE and other Christian radio stations. It’s such a positive, wonderful song, and the Newsboys do a terrific job with it. It’s definitely one of my favorite songs by them-and a great way to start off this CD. πŸ˜‰

-Steven Curtis Chapman-All About Love-I first heard this song in 2012, after going through WOW Hits 2004 samples on Amazon (pretty funny that the first time I heard this song was on this CD, that I’m now reviewing!). I thought it sounded really good, and I eventually did get it on my iPod. It’s a really upbeat song that just talks about the importance and greatness of loving!

-Point of Grace-Day By Day-As of now, this is the only POG song that I know, but I really like it! I first heard it a couple of months ago and thought it was just fantastic. The Point of Grace ladies (sorry gals, I have no idea what your names are…) have terrific voices, and this song really shows off their talent. It’s a very peppy song and just puts a smile on your face. πŸ˜‰

-FFH-You Found Me-FFH is a really old group who I don’t know much about (apparently this song was released in 1999, so I don’t know why it’s on this CD). But I do know one thing: and that’s that they have great voices! πŸ˜€ The harmonies and vocals in this song are outstanding, and it’s just one of those songs that makes you feel good. This is another song from this CD that I have on my iPod. I don’t listen to it very often, but I still love it!

-Avalon-Everything To Me-I’ve only been interested in Avalon for a couple of months, but in that short amount of time I’ve managed to listen to many of their songs. This song I hadn’t really listened to until recently, but one day I finally decided to try it, and I was blown away! Michael (who sings the first verse)’s vocals on this lovely ballad are just AMAZING. I never knew he could sing that high… πŸ˜‰ The only thing I don’t like about this song is Melissa (who sings the second verse, and also replaced my #1 favorite Avalon member, Cherie-boohoo! 😦  ). I really don’t like her voice at all, but in this song it’s tolerable.

-Chris Rice-The Other Side of the Radio-This is the first song I’ve listened to by Chris Rice, and I really like it! It’s just a cute, happy song that makes me smile.

Disc 1 Least Favorites:

-Amy Grant-Simple Things-I really DO NOT like Amy Grant (except for her Christmas songs πŸ˜‰ ). Her voice really gets on my nerves, and she just sounds so fake or something in several of her songs. The song itself isn’t that bad. I think I’d probably like it a lot more, though, if Amy Grant wasn’t singing it. πŸ˜‰

Disc 2 Favorites:

-ZOEgirl-You Get Me-I LOVE this song. It’s definitely one of my very favorites by ZOEgirl. The song’s message is great, too: even when people in this world don’t understand us, God always does, no matter what. I just ❀ that! πŸ˜€

-Rebecca St. James-I Thank You-Rebecca St. James never fails to disappoint! This song, like many of her others, is fantastic, and definitely one of my favorite RSJ songs. She has another song, that’s just called Thank You, and when I first discovered RSJ, I always used to get the two mixed up. πŸ˜› But anyway, I Thank You is great-it always makes me feel really good. Rebecca just sounds awesome in it. πŸ™‚

-Jeremy Camp-I Still Believe-Good old Jeremy Camp. I still hear this song all the time on K-LOVE, which is kind of funny because it’s pretty old. πŸ˜‰ Despite being 10+ years old, though, it still manages to have a really good message. This message is that we should always trust in God, even if things don’t work out the way we want them to, because He has a plan for our lives. πŸ˜‰

-Jump5-Why Do I Do-This isn’t my favorite song ever by Jump5, but I still do really like it. Their voices are fantastic in this song, which is really no surprise since their voices are fantastic in every song. πŸ˜‰ And Libby (who sings the bridge)—man, that girl can SING! Jump5’s music sure didn’t sound the same after she left. 😦

Disc 2 Least Favorites:

-Stacie Orrico-Stuck-I liked Stacie’s song (There’s Gotta Be) More to Life on WOW Hits 2005, but I really don’t like this one at all. It’s definitely not as good. :/ I used to have this song on my iPod, because my sister downloaded it, but I eventually took it off just because the more I listened to it, the more I didn’t like it. So yeah, not one of my favorites.

-Relient K-Getting Into You-I’ve only heard one song by Relient K before…and that happened to be a Christmas song. I was expecting something more rock-ish and upbeat here, but this song was really dull in my opinion. A little too dull, in fact.

-TobyMac-Phenomenon-Yes, our pal Toby was still making music back in 2004 (or rather, 2003, when this album was really released πŸ˜‰ ). I have to say, though, that I’m not a fan of this song. It’s wayyyyyy too annoying and loud.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed hearing my opinion on several of the songs from WOW Hits 2004! πŸ™‚ I had a really fun time writing about the songs. Would you like for me to do another post like this in the future? If so, let me know in the comments. πŸ˜‰

Have a great rest of your night!

Which Story Would You Like To See?

Hi everyone! You might remember that in this post, I said I was thinking about posting another Songville story on my blog (or just some other story). Well, I looked through some of them recently, and picked out a few that I thought you all would like. But now…the final decision is up to YOU!

Below I’m going to list a few story summaries, and then at the end of the post, you’ll be able to vote on which story you’d like me to post first. And don’t worry, if you don’t really like how any of the stories sound, and if you’d rather me post another story besides a Songville one, there will be an option for that in the poll too. πŸ™‚

OK, so here are the summaries:

-The Stray Story-Rebecca and her friends find a stray dog at the park, and Rebecca decides to take it home. Her family soon grows very attached to the new member of the family…which turns out to not be such a good thing when they unexpectedly become acquainted with the dog’s former owner.

Dare to Be Different-Some girls at school are making fun of Rebecca for lots of different reasons: her clothing style, her curly hair, and her unique interests. The teasing causes Rebecca to make some changes in herself that her friends aren’t happy with. Will Rebecca ever decide to be her true self again?

Brandon’s Business-Brandon’s mother’s birthday is coming up, but there’s just one problem: Brandon doesn’t have enough money to buy her a fantastic gift. He decides to try to earn money by going into business…but running his own business sure isn’t as easy as Brandon thought it would be!
(*note*: This story focuses on Brandon from Jump5-he wasn’t featured in the last story. πŸ˜‰ )

Brittany’s Clever Cupcakes-Brittany (from Jump5) decides to enter a baking competition and comes up with a cupcake idea that she personally thinks is brilliant.Β However, when a baking disaster occurs, Brittany and her friends have to get creative with Brittany’s contest entry.

Which story would you like to read?

So, vote away, folks! I can’t wait to see what story wins. πŸ™‚

This is the last you’ll see of me for a while, because I’m going on vacation. I don’t know if our hotel has free wi-fi or not, which means I probably won’t be moderating many comments until I get back. But don’t worry! I should be back early next week. πŸ˜‰

My Opinions on the Members of Jump5

Hey guys!! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there (including mine <3)! You'll be happy to hear that I'm officially back from my "break". Yay!! We had a huge family yard sale this past weekend, and the last few days I've been running around lifting/moving things and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. It left me with no time to post, but now that the sale's over, I can again!! πŸ˜€

Anyway, I've been obsessed with theΒ  Christian band Jump5 all week (to find out more about them, go to this post), so today I thought it’d be fun to list each member and tell you what I think of them. πŸ™‚

(This shot is taken from the American Girl magazine issue J5 was in-May/June 2002-which my sister has. πŸ˜‰ ) From left to right: Brandon, Libby, Brittany, Lesley, and Chris

I’m going to be listing them from oldest to youngest

When I first saw the music video for Jump5’s song Spinnin’ Around back in 2011, I automatically decided that I really, really did not like Chris for some reason. I don’t actually know why, I just did. Maybe it was his spiky hair, or the fact that he always seemed to be grimacing rather than smiling in the video. As I got more into the group, however, and the years went by, I actually started to like him a lot-and realized that he’s actually really great! Chris is probably one of my favorite members now, the main reason being because I think he’s really cute. πŸ˜‰ He’s also Catholic like me, which is another reason why I like him so much.

At first I thought Lesley was kinda boring, because she always seemed to be in the backround. But in the group’s later years, she started taking on more singing roles, and I discovered that she was really cool-and a terrific singer! Plus, she has a very contagious laugh!! πŸ˜€

Brandon is really cool. While I don’t like him as much as Chris, he seems like a pretty nice guy. He’s on the shy side, and there’s just something about him that makes me giggle (in a good way!). Plus, he’s Brittany’s (older) brother, which I think is really neat! In later years, Brandon’s hair got a little on the…um, messy side. Let’s just say, he kind of needed a haircut after a while. πŸ˜‰ (That might be one reason why I don’t like him as much as Chris-LOL!)

Libby is definitely one of my top favorite members of Jump5. She has such a great smile-you know, the kind that makes you want to smile too!! πŸ™‚ I think Libby has a great voice. She took the lead on several of the band’s songs, which was a smart move on their part. πŸ˜‰ Libby left the band in 2004, which I think is the absolute pits (as a foursome, they just didn’t seem the same). But while she was in the group, she added a great touch to the band. πŸ™‚

Finally, my all-time favorite member, who’s also the youngest…Brittany!! She is just so fun and she is REALLY hyper. In the group’s music videos, she’s always jumping around and just being silly. I’m not sure why she’s my favorite, I think it’s because she has so much energy! Plus, we have a lot in common…we both like to read, write, do art…a whole bunch of stuff. I’m a little bit like Brittany, because we’re both really positive gals!

I really hope you guys enjoyed reading about my opinions on the members of Jump5! Oh, and by the way, keep an eye out for the next chapter of Talent Battle-it’ll be coming sometime this week!

Review: Jump5-All The Time In The World

Hey people! Today I’m going to be reviewing the Jump5 album All The Time In The World. In case you have absolutely no idea who Jump5 is, I’ll tell you about them. They were a Christian pop group who also became very popular in the mainstream world with their covers of Disney songs, and they were around in the early- to mid-2000s. I first became interested in Jump5 a few years ago (way after they disbanded πŸ˜‰ ) but I really enjoy their music, and I’m sure that you will too. So let’s get started with the review!

First, let me start off by saying that this was Jump5’s second album, and it was released in 2002 (WOW, that’s old!). All The Time In The World is also my absolute favorite album of theirs, and apparently lots of other people felt the same way, because it was their highest-ranking album on both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Contemporary Christian charts.

The first track, All I Can Do, is basically a message to God, saying that they have “nothing to do but think about You”. God has done so many great things for all of us, and even if we mess up, He still will be able to forgive us! Isn’t that great? The song could also be about feeling bad for getting upset at a friend/loved one, and wanting to make up with them. There’s also a killer music video for this song, which I first watched last summer. Watch it and see for yourself how awesome it is!

Next is Throw Your Hands Up, which is basically just a fun, energetic song that really doesn’t have a specific message. It’s probably one of my favorite tracks on the whole album. I love the rap part-the boys really do a great job with it. (And, of course, it’s definitely clean rap. πŸ˜‰ Just one of the many reasons why I love this group.)

After that, we have Summer Song, another one of my favorites. It’s a terrific song about (what else?) summer! Definitely a great song to listen to if you’re excited for that season, like I am!! Below is a video of Jump5 performing this song at a festival, mixed with great, summery clips as well.

Following that is Joyride, which is another terrific track. The group is comparing your faith journey with God to a “joyride” (BTW, whenever I hear that word now, this song starts playing in my head. πŸ˜‰ ). You can just be walking along feeling lonely and unsure, but then when you discover that there’s a God out there who loves you, and you start to love Him back, your life totally changes for the better! Whoo-hoo!! πŸ˜€

Then we have Angel In My Heart, a sweet song about the wonderfulness (sorry, I know that’s not a word, but I couldn’t think of anything better πŸ˜‰ ) of guardian angels. Apparently this song was originally performed by a group called Hear’Say. I have never heard of them (or their version of the song) but in my opinion, Jump5 has covered this song well.

Moving right along, the next song is Put Me In The Picture, a song about how everything is better when God comes into your life. Another one of my favorite tracks. I absolutely love the song’s bridge!

Up next is Forever In My Heart, talking about all the great qualities of God and all the good things He’s done for us. Without God, we would never be able to get to Heaven!! We should try to be like God every day, and always obey His will for our lives.

Finally, we have Diamond. Personally, I think this is a song that all girls (me included!) can relate to. The song discusses how we sometimes feel insecure about how we look, and compare ourselves to models and movie stars. But we don’t need to do that, because God created all of us, and we’re just the way He wanted us to look!! Whether you are short or tall, skinny or overweight, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that God made you!

The last three tracks are just remixes of Throw Your Hands Up, Joyride, and All I Can Do, so I won’t be posting those. πŸ™‚ But I hope you enjoyed this post! See ya later, and have a great rest of your day!
